Considerations for Selecting- SCIENCE

  • Biology:

Consider for students who are:

  • Earned As and Bs in 8th grade Science
  • Motivated to complete challenging tasks, able to independently follow lab directions and write paragraph length conclusions from lab and text-based evidence.

  • Earth Systems & Sustainability:

This option should be used for ALL English Language Learners (Current ELP 1 & 2) that have not yet taken a high school science course. It will introduce students to scientific language and skills through the lens of Earth Science.

  • Honors Physics:

Consider for very strong students who are:

This is a college level course so students should be up for a challenge, self-starters and motivated to complete work at home as well as in school.

Considerations for Selecting- WORLD LANGUAGE

  • Spanish (Levels 1-5)
  • Spanish for Spanish Speakers* (Levels 1-3)
  • French (Levels 1-5)
  • Arabic (Levels 1-2)

Native Speakers of Spanish: Please note that Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 are not appropriate courses for students who speak Spanish at home. Students who speak Spanish at home should consider and take the placement test for the Spanish for Spanish Speakers courses.

Students who speak fluent Spanish at home who plan to take Spanish in high school must be added to the Spanish for Spanish Speakers placement test list in late February/early March.

Procedures for placement testing this year are still being determined by the World Languages Office.
