Miami Street Gangs:
Original Grove Hunters
A.k.a: Black Grove Boys / Hunna Gang
By the state of Miami FL Police Dept.
Who are the Hunters?
Formed in late 1978, The Hunters are a street gang composed of mostly african american teens ages 14-19. Their name “Hunters” comes from their heritage, slaves in the antebellum south. Particularly, slaves that were chosen to hunt around the properties of slave masters, killing everything from small vermin to full grown deer. A small group of hunting slaves eventually joined forces with the Seminoles during the second Seminole War, using thier skills with bows and powder rifles to fight their oppressors. While a noble heritage, the gang that took their inspiration from these rebels is nothing short of criminal, as they engage in everything including but not limited to Homicide, Drug Distribution, Extortion, and a wide variety of crimes of a dubious nature. The rapper ‘Pusherman’ was the heir to this gang until he left for New York with his parents, where he formed the Prophets gang, and caused an intense amount of disruption within the streets of New York City’s southside. He would go on to abandon the gangs title once he headed back home to the south. While Pusherman was away however, the gang began to do business with the columbians who were pushing cocaine into miami, officially digging their hands into the dope business. Like the Prophets, this gang is formed on the basis of “Protecting the neighborhood”, only punishing people who sell in the Black Grove area, as they would rather their members sell to other hoods instead of their own. The gang is not at all aggressive to those who have no quarrel with them, as conflict causes a massive problem when it comes to business.
Style and Affiliations
These youths in particular are no strangers to falling victim
to the trends of today, as their style is no different than that
of the urban teen of any other city. However they engage in
“Flagging” a way of representing their gang through a
Colored bandana. The Hunters chose the colors black
and orange, black for the area they are from: “Black Grove”,
and orange since it stands out.
As far as affiliations go, they choose to remain alone unless another group can prove their trust by putting in work with/for the faction.
Symbols and graffiti to beware
Gang Symbols can be simply defined as any logo or image that
a gang uses to represent either itself or the alliance it is a part of.
In this case the Hunters have chosen a hand throwing up the
letter “H” for Hunters, a scope, which most likely is another
reference to their name, and a 3 of Clubs, which represents their
affiliation with the “Triple Alliance”, an alliance formed from the
ashes of the infamous street gangs The Northside Clingers,
The Eastside Slausons, and The Chicano Sinners Rifa.

Backed Businesses
Multiple black owned businesses have been infiltrated and/or backed by Hunters, either by using Hunter money to keep their businesses afloat or by using Hunters as a form of security.
Price Records has recently been under investigation after some Hunter gang members in miami had been seen picking up boxes full of “Price Records Staff & Security” shirts and clothing.
