  • Ajanta caves are example of world famous paintings of India. These were the monasteries of of Buddhist monks and have decorated paintings. As the caves are dark inside, most of these paintings were done in the light of torches.the colours which are vivid even after 1500 years. These were made pf plants and minerals.These are located in Maharashtra.The artists who created these unique works of art remain unknown till now.

The Famous Epics of India

  • The Ramayana composed by Rishi Valmiki is the story of lord Rama, A prince of Kosala who was sent into exile. His wife Sita was abducted by the King Lanka Named Ravana and Rama had to fight a battle to get her back. He won and returned to Ayodhya the Capital of Kosala.
  • The Mahabharta composed by Rishi Vyasa is a about a war fought between The Kouravs and Pandavs, who were cousins. This was a war to gain control of the throne of the Kurus and their capital Hastinapur. The Bhagwat Gita is the part of Mahabharta.

Vedas And Puranas

  • Vedas are a large body of a religious text of Hindus originated in Ancient India. These were composed in Vedic Sanskrit, are four in Number named The Rigveda, The Yujurveda , The Samaveda and Atharvaveda. The women and Shudras were not allowed to read these
  • The Puranas means old. These contain the stories about God and Goddesses such Vishunu, Shiva, Durga and Parvati. These Puranas are written in simple Sanskrit and were meant to Heard by everybody.
