• You are the Societies Council; the Council is made up of the 80+ society auditors in UCD.
• The Council also consists of the Chairperson.
• As a registered auditor, you are entitled to attend all meetings of the Council, which are held a number of times in each semester.
• Meetings are held to discuss issues relating to societies; they are a forum for discussion among auditors.
• A meeting will also be held to elect auditors to the committees of the Societies Council.

There are two committees of the UCD Societies Council

• The Finance Committee.
• The Recognition Committee.

• Deals with grant submissions.
• Membership consists of the Societies Officer, Societies Chairperson, and 8 current auditors.
• These auditors will be elected at a Council meeting soon after Freshers Week.
• Grant applications/resubmissions/appeals should be emailed to Liz Cronin (elizabeth.cronin@ucd.ie).
• Questions on grant outcomes should be directed to the Chairperson of the Societies Council (societies.council@ucd.ie).

• Deals with new society applications, and changes to recognised society constitutions.
• Membership consists of the Societies Officer, Societies Chairperson, 2 current auditors, and 3 current/former Senior Treasurers.
• Both auditors will be elected at a Council meeting after Freshers Week.
• Send proposed constitutional amendments to John (societies.council@ucd.ie)
• Changes are not in force until approved by the Recognition Committee.

REPRESENTING SOCIETIES WITHIN UCD

STUDENT ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE

The Societies Council Chairperson (plus one auditor) sits on the Student Activities Committee alongside representatives from UCDSU and sport clubs.

We advocate for societies and promote the interests of society members and society committees.

UMT STUDENT EXPERIENCE GROUP

The Societies Council Chairperson sits on the Student Experience Group, reporting to the University Management Team (UMT).

The Chair represents student societies in UCD in dealings with the University, ensuring the work of societies is recognised and supported.
