Our Location

  • near the Orewa River and beautiful Orewa Beach.

  • Orewa is a small coastal town with lots of cafes and restaurants. Shopping malls are nearby in Silverdale.

  • It takes 47 minutes on a bus to get to Auckland City.

  • Mostly single level buildings spread over large site.
  • Lots of sports fields/courts/gyms. Sport is a big deal!
  • Performing Arts Centre with lots of music, dance and drama opportunities.

Our Subjects

  • Over 25 subjects to choose from.
  • English or ESOL - at your level.
  • Most learning is done in Google Classroom. You get your very own OC Google account. You need to bring your own device.
  • Enter for NZ Exams (NCEA) or do the work but don’t sit the exams.
  • Many of the practical subjects are popular with International Students. Try something new!

Orewa College Academic standing / ranking

At Orewa College, we aim to develop well-rounded individuals who are prepared for success in an ever-changing world.

NCEA Pass Rates - all students.

Level 1 - 3 NCEA (Year 11-13):

  • Pass rates (87% average) are higher than the National average (67%)
  • Pass rates are higher than schools in the same socioeconomic band (72%)

University Entrance (UE):

  • UE rates (73%) are higher than the National average (51%)
  • UE rates are higher than schools in the same socioeconomic band (57%). These figures are for all students, including those who are not aiming for UE.

Some of our students do not necessarily aim to gain UE but succeed by graduating with what they need for trades, apprenticeships or other tertiary education.

New Zealand Experience

This subject is for International students who are not taking our NZ exams.

We give you lots of experiences in this subject, including history, geography, food, movies, music - all things kiwi!

There is an emphasis on outdoor learning and we go on lots of day trip (usually 4 per term) and even a 3 day camp - in tents, kiwi style!

Our Homestays

We have long standing local families who welcome International Students into their families as their own.

They are within walking distance of Orewa College or a short school bus trip away.

Homestay families get as much from hosting you as you do from staying with them. It’s a rich and rewarding experience all round.
