What is air quality monitoring? What does it tell us?

Air quality regulations:

  • Limits air pollutants and sets air quality standards based on a standard measurement of chemicals and compounds in the air

Air quality monitoring regulations:

  • Ensures that air monitoring data is high quality, complete and comparable nationwide
  • Ensures the highest standard equipment is used – and quality standards for how to use that equipment
  • Creates standards for reporting data to inform program and the local rules
