THE PROBLEM
Emergencies don't wait for paperwork
to be organized.
A father has a sudden heart attack.
His son lives in another city.
Nobody knows...
Which hospital insurance is active
Where the Aadhaar or PAN is
Which medicines he takes / allergies
Who to call — emergency contacts
Which EMIs and policies are running
Hours to Days
is how long families typically spend hunting for critical documents and information during a medical emergency.
The real cost
Delayed treatment. Missed insurance claims. Lapsed policies discovered too late. Families carry this risk quietly — until the day it matters most.

Guiding questions
What's hardest to find in an emergency? What builds trust in a digital vault?
KEY INSIGHTS
Trust is the #1 barrier
Families won't centralize sensitive data without visible, explainable security.
Renewal dates are the recurring pain
Nearly everyone recalled a lapsed insurance policy or licence discovered too late.
Emergency access must work for others
The person who needs the data often isn't the one who can unlock the phone.
PRODUCT THINKING
Prioritizing for the MVP that matters
MUST HAVE
Document vault
AI scanning
Expiry reminders
Emergency profile
SHOULD HAVE
Family sharing
Medicine tracking
Hospital folder
COULD HAVE
AI chatbot
QR emergency card
Digital asset manager
Rationale: real-time hospital-record integration and multi-language support were deliberately deferred — they require institutional partnerships beyond what an MVP can validate.

HERO FEATURE
Emergency Mode: one tap, everything that matters
EMERGENCY MODE
Blood Group: O+
Allergies: Penicillin
Condition: Hypertension
Contact: Priya (Daughter)
Insurance: Star Health
No unlocking, no searching
Critical info surfaces the instant a responder or family member opens the app.
Works even under stress
Large touch targets and high contrast — designed for shaking hands and panic.
Shares only what's needed
Trusted contacts and responders see medical essentials, not your entire vault.
Paired with an Emergency QR Card for the wallet or lock screen — responders scan and see only essential medical information.
TESTING & VALIDATION
Validated with real users, not assumptions
8–10 participants completed real tasks: find a policy, add a passport, generate an emergency QR, check upcoming expiries.
Task Completion
measured per scenario
Time on Task
tracked per flow
User Confidence
self-reported post-task
Qualitative Feedback
iterated into v2 designs
WHAT CHANGED
Early testers hesitated to grant “trusted access” without understanding exactly what family members could see. We redesigned the permission screen with explicit, per-category toggles — and added a visible audit trail of who accessed what, and when.
BEYOND THE PROTOTYPE
Designed to be built, not just imagined
Technical feasibility
Full-stack (MERN) experience means this design isn't a visual fantasy — every screen maps to a realistic data model and build plan.
MongoDB — encrypted family & document records
Express / Node — secure API & auth layer
React — responsive, accessible interface
AI/OCR extraction pipeline for document scanning
Prior track record
Previously I built and shipped the Expiry Alert Hackathon project — the same core problem this product solves, now expanded into a full family platform.
What's next
Pilot with 50 families in Bengaluru + Odisha
Bank & insurer API partnerships for auto-sync
Regional language rollout
Peace of mind, one tap away.
SafeNest AI — a secure home for every document, medicine, and moment that matters.
