Project 2 Proposal: Bird Migration in AR

DESCRIPTION

WIKI RESULTS LIST

  • AR for Migration page (add under AR for Environmental Science)
  • Map Interactions in AR page
  • Map Visualization Tutorial in AR page
  • Visualizing Patterns in AR
  • AR Interaction and Immersion for Scientific Data page (including tutorials for interactions implemented and comparison of interaction analysis)

  • Using bird migration data, I will create two AR experiences:
    1. User selects their location and season. They will have a selection of birds that migrate to that location during that season appear to them. The user will be able to interact with the birds to learn more about them.

    • User selects a bird species and views the migration path on a map. User will have some level of interaction with the map to try to detect migration patterns.

Project 2 Proposal: Bird Migration in AR

DATES AND MILESTONES

IN-CLASS ACTIVITY

  • Class will view both AR visualizations, complete a form, and participate in a discussion on their experiences. I hope to answer the following questions:
    • Will the two different visualizations help the class detect different patterns in migration?
    • Which visualization is easier for the user to understand bird migration? And what information did they learn from each?
    • Does increased interaction with the data lead to a better understanding of the data?
