What is the Section 8 (Housing Choice Voucher) Program?

Federal program through HUD (Housing and Urban Development), administered locally by HASU
A rental assistance program for local, modest income individuals and families
A participating household will expect to pay around 30% of their monthly income towards their rent

Why participate as a potential landlord?

You will be supporting a individual in the local workforce needing fair, affordable housing!
Provides reassurance that income is guaranteed monthly from the voucher
Requires both the landlord and the tenant to uphold Housing Quality Standards
Tenants are pre-screened by the Housing Authority
One-year leases are required, which provides more long-term guarantees of having a revenue stream from your rental
