Printer

  • Annual firmware
  • Enter: 192.168.234.50 to access printer
  • TONER: You must set “Replace Toner” to “Continue”. It resets to Stop after toner change. Once it says Low Toner, you can print 10 – 20 more returns.
  • DRUM: You must manually reset the drum counter. Plan to time it to replace the toner at the same time. Once it says Drum End Soon, you can print 40 – 70 more returns. Replace Drum maybe up to 20 returns.

  • They’ve been very reliable
  • There is an annual refresh program (we got 2 new)
  • Encourage use of screen wipes (not alcohol wipes)

Tax Slayer on the Chromebook

  • Logging into TaxSlayer is completely independent of the CB
  • We tag a specific TS Logon ID to each CB for convenience (PASA05, GAL005, etc.)
  • A TS logon can be used from any CB from any TaxAide site
                  • It’s why Eddie, Susan, Ronnie can log in from anywhere
                  • It’s why STAP allows a tax preparer in MI to log into Webster
                  • Because of the AARP Settings, NEVER log into TS on any device but the CB
                  • Eddie and Susan can tell if someone logs in from a somewhere else.
                  • I’m certain the mothership is monitoring non-compliance
