How to update your Chromebook

Chromebook updates run automatically if shut down regularly, so it’s important to turn your chromebook off every night. Sometimes, when a device has been left on too long without running an update, it must be done manually. Here are the directions in a short video.

Fixing Poor Sound Input (microphone) on a Chromebook **this feature usually installs itself if you turn the chromebook off and on

  • Go to system tray in the bottom right of screen
  • Click on > next to volume slider
  • Adjust the microphone (all the way up may distort sound-- experiment with this)

Microphone Issues While Headphones are Plugged In

If a student is using headphones that don't have a microphone on the cord, they won't be heard unless you toggle to "internal mic." This setting is found by clicking in the bottom right corner of the chromebook (a) and then clicking on the right arrow next to the volume slider. It's easy to miss. Choose "internal" mic rather than "mic jack" and the problem will be fixed. You may have to do this every time you plug in headphones.
