Goals & Objectives for the Project

Create a library of lessons and tools housed within a shared Webcourse for all Interdisciplinary Studies Faculty to use for their classes

• Due to the interdisciplinary nature of our courses, a student may feel well-versed in one aspect of a course but entirely ill-equipped for another, while a classmate may, conversely feel ill-equipped for the first aspect and highly competent on the second.
• The inclusion of adaptive learning tools will increase engagement--particularly in online and blended format courses--by allowing students to follow a more personalized path of learning that best fits their own strengths and weaknesses. ��

Project Description

Project Overview

• Our department is unique in that it houses a diverse set of programs, majors, and hosts students with every background imaginable. Within the Interdisciplinary Studies Department, our students can major in Environmental Science, Interdisciplinary Studies, or Integrative General Studies. We also house certificates including a certificate in Diversity Studies. Within each of our programs, our students bring huge variability in expertise, age, diversity, abilities, and learning experiences. Personalized adaptive learning is a tool that can assist faculty in scaffolding to better challenge each student on an individual level. This would increase student engagement as it would allow faculty to better differentiate to meet student needs.
• The project resulted in a library of personalized adaptive learning tools provided to IDS faculty that cover common topics across multiple courses in our program.
• These learning tools include a variety of technological tools, including ObojoboNext, Webcourses modules, and Materia. Combining these tools will allow us to avoid added costs for students, while providing a learning experience that is responsive to students’ individual learning needs.
• IDS Faculty can select lessons or modules that address needs in their class without having to create every module or lesson from scratch
