Intro

Being a nursing student and working in the Emergency Department as a technician this year were two similar yet different experiences.

1 World, 2 Experiences

First, it was uncertain if we were going to be able to graduate nursing school because our clinical sites were closed to students and we couldn’t get our required clinical hours.

As a student, I wasn’t allowed in the hospital, but I could go to work as a frontline healthcare worker in the ED.

Finally, one hospital allowed for all my classmates and I to do our clinical rotations, but we were not allowed to take care of anyone suspected to have Covid-19.

At work I took care of countless patients suspected to have Covid-19, as well as numerous that were positive.

Graduation

Eventually, I was able to get all my 144 clinical hours required by the board of registered nursing, some of which were done in a virtual simulation environment.
