  1. Proposed Nature-Based Solution: Conservation and Restoration of Mangrove Ecosystem
  2. Ecological Basis for the solution:
    • mangrove ecosystems provide protection from storms, floods, and erosion.
  3. NBS activities to be carried out:
    • Education, awareness creation, and soliciting community participation
    • Conservation (For sites with significant healthy mangroves ), and Replanting (For badly degraded sites)
    • Hydrological restoration (For sites with mouth closure due to sedimentation)
    • Waste removal for polluted zones
    • Sustainable funding through private sector participation
  4. Expected outcome of intervention:
    • Reduction in erosion and floods
    • Restoration of habitats and improvement in biodiversity status
    • Restoration of habitats for breeding and other ecosystem services
    • Boost in livelihood options through provision of fin and shell fish, timber, medicine, fuelwood
