30 years of Internet:

Perfect organization, User-friendly packaged.

  • With Google we find information,
  • Facebook and LinkedIn for people,
  • AirBnB & Booking for living,
  • Uber for transport

The Web is Broken

  • Trust in Web Decreases Significantly
    • 39% said they were using the internet more selectively
    • 49% say their distrust has caused them to disclose less personal info
  • There’s Censorship, Fraud, Revisionism & Plagiarism.
  • Small players (consumers, creatives, small businesses) are Powerless. Nobody can be hold accountable.
  • Journalism, Creativity and E-commerce are broken (readers and consumers are powerless).
  • No Trust means No Democracy and No Level Playing Fields.

Imagine, Twitter being built on a Blockchain ...

  • A tweet comes out from a CEO, and it violates some SEC regulation.
  • Stock prices go up or down. People make or lose tens or hundreds of millions of dollars because of that tweet. People might end up in jail for that tweet.
  • We have no idea who actually said it, right?
    • Did the CEO really say that, or does someone ...
    • inside Twitter modify the database to make it look like he said that?
    • Or did some hackers from the outside corrupt the database?
  • It’s Twitter saying he did versus the person saying “no, I didn’t say that”.

How a 100% Blockchain Based World Would Solve Everything

  • And then, we get into situations where I’m going to say that, and I’m going to claim that I was hacked. And some people can start to use this, “Oh, we don’t really know what happened” as an excuse to escape accountability for their actions. And it’s totally not verifiable.
  • If websites like Twitter do build on blockchain, designed with integrity from the beginning, then there would never be any doubt about who said it.

4 Solutions to fix the Broken Web

  1. With an Open Source platform like WordPress, as a Publisher or Merchant, you are resilient against Censorship. #OwnYourData
  2. Timestamping an Open Source Fingerprint of this content and its revisions with blockchain, so you have a Proof of Existence; a Certificate of Birth.
  3. Make this Content Timestamp Verifiable by any Human in an Open Source manner; reader, buyer etc.
  4. Make this Content Timestamp Verifiable by any Machine in an Open Source manner; Search Engines, Social Media, etc.

WordPress empowers 35% of ALL websites.

  • WordPress is the #1 CMS with a 35.0% market share, 2.8% higher than November 2018.
  • Joomla is the #2, has 2.7% market share and is down 0.3% year on year, that’s a 10% decline.
  • Open Source Softw. + Community = Market Leader.
  • WordPress is my proof that blockchain can and will work.

WordProof Outlook 2020

Vertical Scaling: Working with Partners in WordPress Ecosystem for Distribution. Plugins, Hosting, etc.

Horizontal Scaling: Rolling out WordProof to other platforms; Open Source and SaaS.

Trail > Free plan! Proving Integrity should be a human right, not a privilege.

Ecosystem & Standardization: Schema.org / ISO.

We’re going to make Timestamping increasingly easier (UX), more valuable (by e.g. Search Engine & Social recognition via Standardization) and more accessible (affordable via freemium and roll-out to major platforms)

Burning Platform of the Decade of Open-Source 🎉

  • Only a few companies own ALL data, and platforms, being able to censor what we do.
  • Those corporations offer their services only where the business case matters to their shareholders, potentially excluding many.
  • Opportunity isn't distributed equally, meaning no jobs for everyone, resulting in a decreasing amount of income for middle and lower-income households.

  • Leverage well-proven open-source building blocks and best-practices to build an open-source platform economy on, as blockchain allows us to commit to integrity with intention, rather than just hoping that it exists.
  • Redefine Platform Economies, Social Media, and Search Engines in an open, anti-monopoly, pro-privacy, and inclusive way. As a developer or participant, you can purposely fulfill a role that fits your personal, organizational or community's beliefs while making your living in that way!

  • There is no level playing field between businesses, value creators and value extractors. Attention is being exploited by mega-corporations and in platform businesses, packaged as sharing economy, drivers and deliverers are being exploited.
  • Distrust on the internet is growing. Journalism and therefore our full democracy is at risk, hence Cambridge Analytica. Even the biggest corporates are not capable of protecting our data.
  • The platform economy offers an opportunity for everyone (businesses, value creators and value extractors).
  • Communities can be market leaders! WordPress, amongst others, proves how the open-source model can build an inclusive anti-monopoly, pro-privacy future.
  • In the case of hyperinflation, open-source money tends to be a solution to store value, proving that blockchain technology potentially revolutionizes finance.
