Getting Started

Install the Brisk Extension

1. Go to the Chrome Web Store and click ‘Add to Chrome’.

• Confirm by clicking ‘Add Extension’ in the pop-up.

​

Note: The security pop-up is not specific to Brisk and appears when installing any Chrome extension. Brisk is safe and secure.

• Personalize Brisk by answering a few quick questions.

Pin Brisk to the Chrome Toolbar

1. Click the puzzle piece icon at the top right of Chrome.

• Find Brisk in the list and click the pin icon to add it to your toolbar.

• Refresh any open tabs to make sure Brisk appears.

• If Brisk still doesn’t show, click the pinned Brisk icon in your toolbar to activate it.

Begin by accessing the resource you want to base the Boost activity on.

This can include:

For PDF's, images, and Word documents:

• Click the Brisk button
• Click the "Upload" button
• Choose the input source including Image, PDF, or Word Doc
• Upload the file

You should always click the "Preview & Edit" button to double-check and customize the Boost activity before sharing it with your students.

Here you can edit 4 sections:

1. Activity Title
2. Learning Objectives
3. Source Material
4. AI Chatbot Role

Activity Title

To edit the Activity Title, simply click the ✏️ pencil icon in the top right corner of that section and type in the title you want.

Learning Objectives

Brisk will create 4 Learning Objectives for the student to meet during the Boost activity.

Click the ✏️ pencil icon to:

• Review the objectives
• Edit or delete existing objectives
• Add your own new objectives (up to 6 total)

Source Material

You can decide if you want the source material for the Boost activity to be displayed to the student or not.

• Leave the source material displayed if you want the student to read the article, watch the video, etc.
• Hide the source material if you don't want the student to see the content, such as a Google Form quiz.

Click the ⛔ hide button in the top right corner of that section if you want to hide the source material from the students.

AI Chatbot Role

Brisk creates a detailed prompt to guide the AI chatbot for the Boost activity.

Click the ✏️ pencil icon to:

• Review the prompt for the AI chatbot
• Make any changes to the prompt as need to modify the AI chatbot's role for the Boost activity

In this section you can also test out the activity as if you were a student.

This is an excellent idea to preview the activity before sharing it with your students.

Classes

Add a Class

You have the option to add the Boost activity to a new or existing class, or not add it to a class at all.

If you do not add the Boost activity to a class:

• The activity will be listed in a general "No Class" section of your activities page
• Students will not log in to access the Boost activity

Add a Class

If you choose to add the Boost activity to a class, you can:

• Select an existing class
• Create a new class

When you add the Boost activity to a class, it will be listed in a section for that specific class on your activities page.

Add a Class

When you do create a class you can edit the access settings at any time:

• Name login only - Students only need to enter their names to join an activity. They will need to stay logged in on that device to return to their past activities.
• Email login required - Students �log in once via Google or email, �receive future activities �automatically, and access their �past activities.

• A link you can give your students
• A QR Code students can scan

Student Experience

Students can access the Boost activity with the link or code you share.

• If you require an email for access, the student will need to sign in with Google or provide an email address.
• If not, the student will simply enter their name.

Student Experience

The student will now engage with the Boost activity based on how you set it up.

This may include:

• Reading the article or watching the video (or such) that you provided.
• Chatting with the AI chatbot.

When chatting, student can:

• Click the 🔊 speaker icon to have the text read aloud
• Click the 🎙️ microphone icon to dictate their response
• Click the 🖼️ attach button to upload file

Student Experience

As the student chats with the AI chatbot, Brisk will keep track of how well the student is meeting the objectives for the Boost activity.

The student can click on the "Learning Objectives" section to see their progress.

The circles in front of each objective will get colored in:

• 🟡 Yellow for partially completed
• 🟢 Green for totally completed

Monitoring the

Boost Activity

Activity Page

Teachers can access all of their Boost activities at any time by clicking on the Brisk button and then clicking the 🎒 backpack icon.

On your activity page you will find:

• A list of students working on the Boost activity
• Their progress on each objective
• A "View" link to see their chat
• A ❗warning icon if their chat has inappropriate content

When you click the "View" button you can:

• Review the entire chat between the student and the AI chatbot
