Materials

  • Planner – EVERYDAY (available end of Aug.)
  • Toolkits for math and science – EVERYDAY

these are Interactive Notebooks

(1 subject pocket with 100 pieces of

binder paper).

  • Glue sticks (2- 3 in backpack daily)
  • 1-2 Highlighters
  • Dry Erase markers (dark color)
  • Pencils – 2 sharpened and ready to go - daily. Mechanical are ok!

Planners (daily)

Planners should be completed each day/week for all of your student’s classes.

If you wonder what’s going on and there is nothing in the planner, please check my website and let me know that your son/daughter’s planner has been left blank.

Ask your son/daughter WHY their planner is left empty.

They can check mine as needed to complete theirs, but we do them together in class. No reason to not be done.

  • Supplemental Materials
  • iReady Diagnostic Tests (3 x per year) – our first will be given next week. Reports can be sent home by email request. (I’ll send an email)

  • Earth: Water cycle, Weather, Atmospheric circulations, global temp., human impact on the environment.
  • Life: Cells, Levels of Organization, Genetics
  • Physical: Thermal Energy, Mass & Energy, Kinetic Energy
  • Scott Foresman Publishing - textbooks can be found on my website. Actual textbooks don’t come home.
  • Tests, projects, presentations (oral and written), group & partner work

Assignments

  • Planner

- Students must record all assignments in their

planner DAILY!

- Sometimes will ask for a signature in planner to be

sure student is showing you their planner and

writing in all assignments

  • Student’s responsibility to get work from days they are

absent.

  • First AND Last name, Period, & Date, then turn into their class basket!

Homework

  • Work not completed in class will be considered “homework”. (Math and Science)
  • Math Homework- evens/odds.
  • Science Homework - unfinished classwork and prep for presentations/research
  • Assignments will be written on front whiteboard, students will write in planners on Mondays (or if absent, the day a student returns).
  • While You Were Out” Crates for math and science
  • Math Pointsheet - All work must be shown, assignments written on point sheet.
  • Answer Keys - can be found on Google Classroom

Grading

  • STUDENTS GRADES FOR MATH 6 ARE 100% SUMMATIVE/ACADEMIC CONTENT SCORES – MEANING THEIR TESTS AND FINISHED PROJECTS ARE GRADED ON AN IB RUBRIC
  • ACADEMIC BEHAVIOR, OR “LEARNING BEHAVIORS” WILL BE REPORTED SEPARATELY (IN ALL CLASSES).
  • THERE ARE 3 LEARNING BEHAVIORS THAT WILL BE REPORTED OUT WITH SCORES OF R (RARELY), S (SOMETIMES), C (CONSISTENTLY), TWICE A TRIMESTER, ARE:

Test Retake Policy

  • May retake most Summative Tests

- academic content tests

  • No retakes on Formative Tests

- quizzes, classwork, homework

  • It is the responsibility of the student to make arrangements for retakes (submit request using specific form)
  • All retakes will occur at lunch on a specified time. unless another arrangement has been made.
