Definitions of Adverb

  • A word, which modifies the meaning of a VERB, an ADJECTIVE or another ADVERB, is called an ADVERB.
  • For example:

VERB -: - Haresh can play cricket well.

ADJECTIVE -: - Haresh is seriously ill.

ANOTHER ADVERB - : - Haresh can play cricket very well.

(4) Adverbs of Reason (Why)

Adverbs of Reason: - hence, therefore, so, consequently etc. For Examples:

  • He behaved impolitely and therefore he was punished.
  • He is old and so he cannot walk fast.
  • I don’t have much money. Hence, I am unable to help you.
  • My car broke down and consequently I was late.
  • Tushar is handicapped and so he cannot walk.

(4) Adverbs of Reason

  • That is the reason why I came early.

  • It was 4 o’clock when the guests arrived.
  • The building where my father works is two hundred years old.
  • This is exactly why you should wear a helmet.
  • This is the place where I learned to drive.
