Project Description

  • Greenary in gardens is important for the healthy lifestyle of a person. Many garden lovers used to keep big or small gardens, but gardens do require atmost care, for that every gardener has to regularly trim the unwanted garden debris and showering them to keep it healthy and fresh. But this become very tedious jobs for them.

By keeping this problem in mind and considering the theme of “ Designing for garden” we the TEAM CONTOUR decided to solve this issue by making automatic sprinkling and cleaning machine.

This machine basically consist of a two side opening sprinkler system and a debris collecting system both of these is attach to a compact robotic system which can be operated by remote controls. According to us this system will be highly beneficial for garden lover to keep their surrounding fresh and healthy with less effort.

Objective

  • The major objective of designing the Automatic S&C machine, by considering various factors which will influence the performance of the machine is listed below:-

  • To design a small confiscated machine that help to collects the debris /trash from the garden & other local areas in a well-organized way and stores in the trash box.

  • To clean the garden at a depth as fast and efficient manner.

  • To reduce the cost of machine and to make it reliable to transport it to most remote places and also which can be easily store in compact space.

  • To procure its spare parts locally and should be able to fix by any person who knows basic mechanics.

  • The another main objective of this project is to minimizing the cost of labor and reducing the fatigue cause by traditional cleaning method.

Challenges

  • We have divided the challenges into two parts:-

1) Challenges faced by peoples:-

  • Manually collecting garden trash on regular basis.
  • Manually sprinkling water over a large area.
  • Wastage of water by sprinkling it in more amount than required.

2) Challenges faced by us:-

  • Deciding and designing cover body.
  • Material required for each parts.
  • Mechanism required for sprinkler system.
  • Mechanism required for waste collector parts.
  • Deciding the types of wheels & designing it.

Goal

  • Our primary goal is to achieve the combination of two different working machine in one single machine which allow us to better utilization of water by reducing the wastage.

  • The secondary goal is to design the garden cleaning machine with simple economical design so that it will be easy for maintenance and use, the machine will be environment friendly and can run in any conditions offered by the garden or any other place. To design a machine which does not have a huge learning curve, as all the parts for the machine been sourced locally, the machine which runs on human power or electric motor. This gives an advantage over the current models available in the market which runs in fuel motors.

Design Process

Sprinkler lift mechanism :The mechanism for Sprinkler lift has appropriately Designed for automation. The mechanism consist of rack and pinion. The rack is connected to motor, which is operated by a cpu unit and controllers when required. On the rotation of rack, the pinion will move in vertical direction, causing the sprinkler to move up and down when required.

Garbage Collector Mechanism :Cleaning of garden many a times becomes a tedious job. We have designed a mechanism that we automatically collect the garbage like Dry leaves, wrapper, etc. and properly store it in a bag. The mechanism consists of rotor with precisely designed blades and belt drive. On the rotation of the rotor, the blades will lift off the garbage, the garbage will be thrown on the belt drive and then belt drive will drove the garbage to the collection bag.
