Dual Enrollment - Masters Upskilling Project

​

  • Consulted with Central Valley Higher Education Consortium to learn about the details of their efforts to help over 100 teachers.
  • Program would support at least 64 teachers getting their credentials to teach dual enrollment courses.
  • Master’s program would cost approximately $19,000 and our subsidy would be $14,000
  • English master’s degree is 11-month program with math slightly longer.
  • Recurit teachers starting this fall for classes to start in 2026.
  • We would recruit mentors from Community College faculty.

  • Working with for-profit colleges
    • Investigating public and private nonprofit colleges
    • Our requested degrees don’t have a high market demand

  • There may be certifications short of a master’s that could help with some dual enrollment courses
    • Will meet with community college partners to ascertain the details

  • Budget slightly over $1 million

UCSB Backbone Budget Change

    • Redirect $150K in funding to support the salaries of several DCAC college advisors at UCSB to work with local high schools in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.

​

    • These advisors help in many ways including support for FAFSA completion and college-going rates.

​
