2 of 51

Purpose

  • To provide NOMMA parents a ready, visual reference of Academy uniform and grooming standards/regulations/expectations.

  • Regulations are taken from the actual United States Marine Corps Order covering uniforms and grooming.

  • Uniform and grooming standards are included in the NOMMA Cadet-Parent Handbook as well as the Cadet Guidebook (both of which were provided to each cadet and are also on the NOMMA website).

  • Additionally, all cadets that attend the Cadet Orientation receive a detailed class on the uniform and grooming standards outlined in this presentation. This class is also covered in the JROTC classes.

3 of 51

Uniform & Grooming Inspections

  • Cadets are expected and required to abide by the uniform and grooming regulations.

  • Uniform and grooming standards will be checked daily during every morning formation as well as periodically throughout the school day.

  • Uniform and grooming failures will be assigned an appropriate consequence that could include counseling, demerits, In School Suspension, after-school detention, Saturday detention, or in repeated incidents an Out of School Suspension.

  • Remember! Uniformity facilitates good order and discipline, attention to detail, and promotes confidence and success!

Marine Corps Uniform Regulations

  • The Marine camouflage uniform, also known as the Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform (MCCUU), or Marine Pattern (MARPAT) uniform, or here at NOMMA – Cammies, is designed to be slightly loose fitting. The trousers are intended to be long so they can be ‘bloused’ up over the boots.

  • New cadets are issued a set of Marine Corps uniforms at the beginning of the year and returning cadets are issued replenishment socks and t-shirts.

  • All USMC uniforms are issued free of charge, as long as they are returned when the cadet graduates or disenrolls from NOMMA. Normal wear and tear is anticipated, so replacement items will be free of charge as well.

  • Lost, missing, damaged items will incur a replacement cost.

6 of 51

Marine Corps Uniform Regulations

  • Wearing the USMC uniform instills personal pride and commitment to excellence! This is what makes NOMMA the most unique Academy in the world!
  • Grooming standards are neat and conservative, whether in the military or NOMMA uniforms.  Our appearance is a statement of who we are. They are necessary to maintain uniformity and minimize distractions. Grooming also includes minimal and conservative makeup and jewelry.
  • Uniforms reflect personal pride, commitment to our team and attention to detail. Cadets will maintain their uniforms in a neat and serviceable condition and will, by their appearance, set an example of neatness, professionalism, and strict conformity to regulations. This standard includes, but is not limited to, being in the prescribed uniform, wearing the uniform completely and properly, and cleanliness.
