Introduction: Welcome to A3!

  • A3! (エースリー), or Act! Addict! Actors!, is a Japanese mobile game, developed and published by LIBER Entertainment.
  • It is a card-collecting game that features 20 characters grouped into four groups, troupes in this case, namely: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
  • The gameplay could be considered similar to Ensemble Stars, with almost no gameplay or skill needed.
  • It is worth to note that whilst this game is free to play, there is a gacha system where you can use and buy in-game currency with real money.

Background Story

You will be playing the character named Izumi Tachibana (you can change the name when you make an account), looking for your missing father. You end up visiting the old theatre company your father used to work at and found it almost being destroyed to shambles.

In one way or another, you end up taking the role of the director and helping everyone in this company to restore it back to how it used to be before.

The summer story starts in Act 2 - A Summer of Overcomings!, in which they gave their best to bring Water me!, a comedy version of 1001 Nights, to the stage. Like the old summer troupe, they decided to focus on comedy plays and give the audience the feeling that the summer has only begun after they have seen one of the refreshing summer troupe acts.

Getting Started: Homescreen and Presents box

The My Page area (homescreen) is where you can access your Presents (the button with the pink and blue gift box), take a look at the game’s Announcements (the button with a pink and blue envelope), see if you have any updates in your Friend List (button on the lower right), among others. The large banner shows any major announcements, such as how to play the game for beginners, and the Premium Scout and Limited Scout (if available) banner .The smaller banner underneath are the Beginner’s Tasks. Once completed, this will be replaced by an event banner so you can start participating in the event.

As of March 7, daily and weekly tasks were added. It can be accessed by the button next to the friends list.

LP - used for doing lessons

SP - used for doing performancesEXP bar - to keep track of your experience

For more information about gold and daiyas, they will be discussed in the Scouting section.

Getting Started: Homescreen and Presents box

At Presents, you can check what unclaimed items or rewards you have, as well as look at the history of what you have claimed. There’s also a convenient way to view each kind of item you want, and a button below that claims all unclaimed items (max of 100 items at a time).

A nifty feature as mentioned is the thing outlined in red! It’s a sort feature that lets you view items according to their Expiry, and then according to what kind of item they are (Daiyas, Cards, Friend Points, Coins, or other Items).

Getting Started: Friends list

The first thing you would see is a list of your current friends. If the pink flower button is not grayed out, it means you can give your friend a little friend point boost!

Pressing that button gives you and your friend 20 friend points each. To give this to all your friends, press the pink button at the bottom that says Give Flowers to Everyone.

The second tab on the left are your Pending Requests, meaning friend requests you sent that have not been either accepted or rejected. The third tab are Friend Requests for you. Finally the last tap is for you to manually Search for a friend using their User ID.

This is what your Friend area would look like!

20 of 75

Getting Started: Story

The Story area has four different Story types: the Main story, the Backstage stories, the Cross Backstage stories, and the Mini Conversations.

  • The Backstage story shows the characters according to their respective troupe. These are stories you unlock via bonding cards.
  • The Cross Backstage story has stories of two specific members. They can be unlocked when you have the specified cards. The long grey on top sorts the stories according to when they were released (per year).
  • Similar to the Backstage stories, the Mini Conversations are sorted according to troupe. These are stories you unlock while bonding guest cards in lessons.

21 of 75

Getting Started: Story

When accessing the stories, the button on the top right (encircled in red) shows only the unread chapters!

If this comes up, it’s asking if you’d like to download voice data for the chapter you selected. The button on the right downloads voice data for that chapter, the middle does not and proceeds with the chapter, while the left closes the window.

22 of 75

Getting Started: Troupe members

The Troupe Members area lets you edit them members of the units you bring with you for your Performances.

Edit Units - view your teams and change the members for your lessons and performancesIndividual practice - basically level up your cardsSpecial training - with the cost of certain items, you can special train your cards to boost their statsBloom - basically idolising your cards if you have another copyView all troupe members - see your current deckLeave troupe - sell cards

23 of 75

Getting Started: Troupe members

The Recommended button automatically chooses the cards that are least bonded: either from all of your cards, or from one of the four troupes.

The Edit Units area has three different unit compositions, which are used for different parts of the game.

The Practice Units are used during Performance Lessons. You can form five different teams!

24 of 75

Getting Started: Troupe members

The Performance Units here are for the members you will bring during Performance Preparations.

As such, the Recommended options differ from the first tab - here the game chooses the strongest from either all of your cards, or according to each Attribute you’ve chosen (Comedy, Action, Serious).

25 of 75

Getting Started: Troupe members

Finally, the Favourites tab, where you are free to choose your five favorite cards and the button at the bottom displays your selected cards side-by-side!Take note that the one in the center will be the boy in your home screen!

What you can do here is tap twice to get rid of the grey banner and tap twice again to return. Then, you can take screenshots of the cards without the names in the way!

26 of 75

Getting Started: Performances

  • Main - basically the plays. These are unlocked as you rank up. When a performance event ends, the lessons gets added in the Main tab.
  • Daily grinding courses - as the name suggests, these courses provide specific drops for items (such as spring flowers on mondays and trophies on fridays).
  • Event - takes you to the event lessons. It would not be accessible when there is no event going on.

There are three tabs you can choose in the Performances menu: Main, Daily grinding courses, and Event.

27 of 75

Getting Started: Performances

Next is selecting which practice session you’d like to attend. The number in the purple area is the LP required for that session, so take note!

The two other buttons at the bottom lead to different things, which will be explained later.

Each session has three flowers that indicate “proficiency” and three missions at that! Each cleared mission and cleared proficiency flower (aka an unlocked mini conversation) will reward the player with a daiya. When you complete all three missions you will be rewarded with 3 daiyas.

28 of 75

Getting Started: Performances

Here we have the practice session screen!

It’s generally straight-forward, and requires very little to no gameplay for the player, to the point that an Auto button is readily available.

The Menu button opens this screen, where you can view your Log, or the Missions for this practice session, as well as how many items you’ve picked-up at this point in the session. You can also choose to Pause, Conclude, or Resume the session using the buttons at the bottom.

29 of 75

Getting Started: Performances

Going back to the two colored icons from before, the green button that says Theater-going Preparation leads you to an area where you can watch the play being “performed”. You will need platinum tickets to view a performance, but before that, you get the chance to select the cast from your current card roster! The Cast button shows you the original cast members for the play for each role, while the other button, Summary, gives you the summary of the of the play. The button on the bottom starts the play, so sit back and enjoy!

There was an update to the game, where another button was added next to the play button that when pressed, will automatically set the original cast when you have them at hand.

30 of 75

Getting Started: Performances

Finally, again from the two buttons from earlier, we have the Performance Preparations button! This time, you will need SP to play! First off, choose from the list showed to you for the Guest you will be having for your performance.

Next, choose from your team which will be performing. Take note that you need to be able to meet the point requirement, as shown on the bottom left (the number followed by P)! You can check if your selected unit is strong enough by looking at your estimated points (the number in purple).

You can increase your score in the scale they’ve set with the cost of a matching SP; i.e., if you want to boost your Comedy score tenfold, it’s going to cost you 5SP.

Once you’re good to go, press the Start Performance button and enjoy!

31 of 75

Getting Started: Working outside

When you’re available to do WO’s, a green number will show up above the tab showing you how many you have available. Currently, we can do three, so it shows ‘3’. You can also check which ones are available (when you have more than one!) by making sure the text on each one is pink (出稼ぎ可能 ‘WO is Possible’).

The items listed in each button are the possible item drops (ドロップアイテム ‘Dropped Items’). Tapping the face of each character will bring up a selection screen. Choose any characters you like. The text below them will change depending on who you choose (ふたりの関係 ‘The Pair’s Relationship’).

Clicking on Completed Conversations will bring up the conversations you’ve unlocked so far. Click on Dispatch to Neighbourhood to begin.

We’ll tackle on Completed Conversations later.

32 of 75

Getting Started: Working outside

You can travel all over town, and they’ll even fall asleep!, by swiping left to right. If you have more than one locations unlocked, you can fast travel by tapping on the buttons at the bottom.

Click the button in top right to begin.

You have 30 seconds to tap hearts to earn coins. Each time you tap a heart, it will burst, and coins will be rewarded. Sometimes items will drop, too, in the form of treasure chests.

When your time ends, your coins will be added and the treasure chests will open to reveal the specific items you have received. Your characters will also say something else, too, as they did in the beginning.

After you’ve done your WO, that pink text will now change to 解放まで[COUNTDOWN] (‘Available Again in [COUNTDOWN]’). Take note that these are in form of hours and minutes!

33 of 75

Getting Started: Working outside

To continue from the earlier screens, Completed Conversations, as the name suggests, will bring up a screen showing you the conversations you’ve unlocked so far.

The one encircled in pink will bring up another menu that will let you choose a character.

Here’s the translated version!

Getting Started: Scouting

Just like any other card-collecting games, A3! features a gacha mechanic and multiple rarities for cards. Take note of these currencies so you won’t make a mistake in spending them accidentally.

Gold - the most common currency in-game. Can be earned by doing lessons, performances, and working outside. Used to practice and bloom cards. They can also be received in exchange of selling cards and completing tasks.

Friend points - the second most common currency. They are rewarded from doing performances and when your friend gives you a flower gift for the day. Can also be received as a reward for doing tasks. Used for friend point scouting

Daiya - the premium currency of the game. Can be bought with real money but you can play earn them freely. Used to do premium scouting and refilling LPs and SPs.

Premium Medals - even harder to obtain than daiyas. The easiest way to acquire these are only through event rewards or special log-in bonuses.

Ns (normals) - the most common rarity for cards. Can be dropped from doing lessons and performances. You can also scout for these in friend point scouting.

Rs (rares) - another not so common rarity but still easy to get. They can be rare drops from lessons. The easiest way to get R cards is via premium/limited scouting. They can also sometimes come out of friend point scouting.

SRs (super rares) - SRs can only received via premium/limited scouting or as an event rewards.

SSRs (super super rares) - the rarest cards of them all. They can be extremely hard to get with a small chance of 4% in premium/limited scouting or a very high point requirement must be met to acquire the event SSR.

35 of 75

Getting Started: Scouting (oh boy)

Here’s the main scouting box, the Premium Scout. You can use Daiya and Premium Medals to scout.

Only R to SSR cards are found in this box.

If you’ve played other mobile games that feature a gacha system, this mechanic shouldn’t be new to you.

However, if this is your first time encountering a gacha game, take note that:

The 1 Scout will, obviously, get you just one boy, ranging from R to SSR. The 10 Scout, on the other hand, will net you ten actors, with at least one SR or above. The Premium Medal Scout will give you 1 actor, SR or SSR.

36 of 75

Getting Started: Scouting

Clicking on Scout Details will give you a blurb about the scout, but more importantly, it will give you the cards inside and the scout rates. For instance, an SSR Citron has a 0.15% chance of being scouted.

Clicking on the Scout Log in the corner will let you view your most recent scouts and where you scouted them from.

The Friend Scout is similar. For 200 Friend Points, you can scout once. For 2000 Friend Points, you can scout ten times.

This scout only has Ns and Rs.

37 of 75

Getting Started: Scouting

During an event, there’s going to be a new box that will be up for only a limited time. The cards featured will not be added to the Premium Scout and is not obtainable anymore after the event ends.

The Once a Day 5 Daiya discount for a solo scout cannot be used in here and so do Premium Medals.

Sometimes, A3! also does campaign gachas whereas if you use paid daiyas to scout, you will either have an SSR guarantee in your pull or you will receive a choice medal to choose an SSR of your choice.

Common examples of this are the Start Dash gacha box that lets you choose a card of your choice ranging from R to SSR (it will be available when you just joined the game until a certain period of time) or end-of-the-month SSR guaranteed birthday boxes.

Guides: Practice sessions

To engage in practice sessions, make sure you have enough LP to play! Practice sessions help in gaining experience points for your cards to level up, as well as increasing your cards Affection Level, and can even drop cards and items! Clearing practice sessions also reward the player with daiyas.

Practice sessions have two requirements before being cleared: one is to max out your Proficiency Level (indicated by the three flowers), and the other is to clear all the Missions.

Your Proficiency Level increases every time your practice partner appears during practice, so it’s a rather luck-based process of completion.

However, Missions are more within your control!

All practice sessions have the same three basic Missions: (from top to bottom) Actors’ High, Group Composition, and Specific Troupe Member Composition. Take note so you can clear the Missions without going back and forth to our translations!

40 of 75

Guides: Practice sessions

The first mission is the Actors’ High Mission, where you basically have to fill up your Tension bar during practice. The only way to fill up your Actors’ High meter faster is to use the members from the same troupe as your practice partner♪Once filled up, your EXP and bond points will have a slight increase as you earn them until it ends!

Next we have the Group Composition Mission, which can be cleared by putting members from the indicated troupes into your team!

In this example, this practice session requires one Summer Troupe member and one Autumn Troupe member to be in your team.

41 of 75

Guides: Practice sessions

Finally, we have the Specific Troupe Member Composition Mission, where you have to get a specific troupe member appear during practice three times!

One tip to accomplish this is to put several cards of the required character in the unit you’re going to be practicing with, as you can take multiple copies of the same card or character and have them placed in the same team.

If you don’t have a card of the character yet, fear not, because there is the chance of their N or R card dropping during the practice session!

As the title suggests, here are the translations for unlocking Badges.

You can access your Badges from the Menu!

Guides: Team building (for performances)

There are two things we need to consider: stats and skills.

By stats, how strong their [attribute] is; and by skills, do your cards, if put in in a team will they activate a link skill?

You can check our link skills translations on their individual slide.

Let’s say we want to make a serious team!

We could use mod Viiktorss’ deck as an example. (don’t judge me pllesase)

47 of 75

Guides: Team building (for performances)

We have two choices:

a) the cards sorted via the recommended button

b) a team that is arranged in accordance to link skills

Clearly, from the total displayed already, you could see the team via recommended button is better.

48 of 75

Guides: Team building (for performances)

Teams optimised for link skills are only “worth it” if you have an all SSR [same attribute] team of the same troupe, since if you put all members of the same troupe together you will immediately get a 50% [attribute] boost.

The team we got via the recommended button does have one skill though, a 10% SR boost because Itaru and Tsumugi are in the same team.

Unfortunately, since the game is still quite new, it’s impossible to have a full winter serious team because not all winter troupe members have a serious SSR.

So! We’ll make do with the first option.

We’ll use their comedy team as example now.

49 of 75

Guides: Team building (for performances)

It’s a little, lacking, they can say because they have a card that isn’t of the same attribute.

This game, however, is strangely forbidding? Somehow some cards aren’t that different in stat differences so it’s okay to keep a different attribute for an SSR.

As you can also see, they have an initial SR Itaru on team.

SRs, for your information, are actually underappreciated. Since we’ve got the rainbow border and backgrounds for SSRs, it makes these simple SRs look useless.

And you’re right, they’re pretty useless at the start.

We aren’t going anywhere with Itaru’s 1484 Co.

50 of 75

Guides: Team building (for performances)

But… so does an SSR!

Azuma is mod viiktorss’ best boy but that 1921 Sr isn’t going to be of any help to their teams...

For comparison’s sake, here is Itaru completely Maxed out.

4516 Co!! That’s as strong as a max-levelled unbloomed SSR!

51 of 75

Guides: Team building (for performances)

SSRs, admittedly, are still stronger by a margin. And this Azuma isn’t even max bloomed yet.

However! Not only SRs are easier to get, easier to level up, they also require less items if you’re going to do special practice to them!

It is possible to have a strong team even with SRs!

Also, in case you’re wondering how strong their serious team is even without the 50% link skill,

Just choose the proper support friend and your team might be stronger than what you thought!

52 of 75

Guides: Link Skills

Link skills are essential to team building, especially when you want to maximise your teams to have them optimised for tiering in events.

Whilst stats still matter more, link skills are an added bonus to boost your teams!

53 of 75

Guides: Performance events

You can access the event’s main screen via the smaller banner on your homescreen.

Once you’re there, you’ll see a variety of information that are beneficial to you, such as how many points you currently have and how many more you’ll be needing to reach the next event reward, your current event ranking, etc.

54 of 75

Guide: Performance events

Now on how to earn points!

There are special event training sessions, which are pretty much like usual training sessions, except the fact that they can be interrupted with Event Performances.

Handle these the way you would normally handle Performance Preparations!

Take note of the play’s attribute, and choose which unit will best enable you to reach the point requirement!

Another thing to be mindful of is the time limit, which can range from an hour and 30 minutes, to just 20 minutes.

Also, certain Event Performances yield more event points than others, so watch out for those.

55 of 75

Guides: Performance events

If, for example, you opt for not going for the live, you can always cancel it and resume your training session.

Note that by doing this, you will decrease the level of your point requirements!

Sometimes, after successfully completing a performance, you will be asked to do an Encore Performance.

These give you even more event points than usual, but requires more points to be cleared. It’s time limit is also very, well, limited, so be mindful of that.

56 of 75

Guides: Seasonal events

Etude battles function like the usual event performances, randomly appearing during lessons.

However, win or lose, the player still receives ohineri (monetary offering) aka points; but of course, winning yields more points.

In the encircled area, the white text is your minimum point requirement. If you already have enough, go ahead and do the performance. The one in pink, however, is the maximum point yield. If you have enough (they are very costly!) then definitely go for it! It will give you a lot of points bonus and will contribute to your nice gauge bonus.

57 of 75

Guides: Seasonal events

Once you’ve chosen a team, you will be taken to a scene where you will battle the opposing group with what seems to be adlib acting. Feel free to skip if you can’t read Japanese.

As mentioned earlier, if you’ve surpassed the maximum bonus point requirement, you’ll receive an onedari bonus! (more on that later)

Create units with cards that yield the most points - cards with strong adlib and link skills, and the seasonal characters.

Learn more about adlib skills in this post.

The nice one gauge (ええなゲージ), when maxed out, will give bonus ohineri points!

58 of 75

Guides: Seasonal events

(we all know we don’t really care about their names so let’s call them by colours instead)

Green - ohineri pts (you will not get any drop rewards. only points)

Blue - coach cards (N and R only)

Purple - flower items

Brown - trophies

Simply tap on the character inside the box if you want to change their icon. Below, the possible rewards are listed. They are what you’ll get if you’ve managed to get 2 copies of the same character.

Tap OK to proceed. The characters you tapped will now randomly change like a slot machine.

So if you tapped a character you want to have rewards from, you might have missed a chance.

Make sure to choose wisely!

59 of 75

Guides: Seasonal events

For example, mod viiktorss got 3 copies of the green icon therefore they received a lot points. Take note! The more copies you’ve got, the more rewards you’ll get!

This is a screen that must look…. somewhat familiar if you play I-chu. Yes, the new A3! Event is basically I-chu’s Bingo event but somehow even made more complex by Liber.

The differences lie mostly on how the rewards system works. If in I-chu, you have specific boxes that guarantee the event LE. Here, we have one whole box with so many rewards, amounting to 300.

60 of 75

Guides: Seasonal events

This also sounds familiar? Yes. It’s also the same mechanic Yumeiro Cast uses during Treasure Gacha events.

Basically, the more you scout, the more rewards gets taken out of the box, the higher the rates go. Take note, there are only a certain amount of rewards you can get in a box.

So if you already got the Tasuku SSR, and you plan to bloom him, you will need to move to another box (like from red to yellow) to be able to scout for him.

(You can only have 3 copies of the event SSR via reward exchange and one via the cumulative rewards at 1mil.)

In the right side of the screen, you can see we have two buttons: 1 scout and 10 scout. Like any other gacha out there, 1 scout will yield one reward, and 10 scout will yield 10.

Guides: Seasonal events (take note of these)

  • There is no tiering system in this event. Like we’ve said, it’s just a bingo event glorified.
  • There isn’t any explicit information given on the rates of each reward, so let’s assume that the less amount of rewards you can have per item, the rarer they are.
  • Mod viiktorss has done some calculations, and to be able to completely empty a box, you will need 450k points, and 1, 350, 000 points if you want to scout all boxes empty. Of course, you don’t need to grind this much because we’re sure Tasuku could come out halfway through the boxes.
  • Following the former number, we also advise to only do 10 scouts only to make your calculations easier.
  • There seem to be different kinds of performance battles like those in performance events. As always, it is advised to only do those that are short in time, namely the ones are that are under 10 and 30 minutes.
  • Lastly, the etude battles this round does not count toward your weekly and daily goals, so make sure to still do a side performance preparation if you want to get those sweet rewards!

Others: How to level up skills

You can raise the card’s skill level by feeding them R+ cards

Note: the higher the rating you’re feeding it with, the higher skill exp bonus it will give!

There’s also this guy, where if you feed him to a card, he will give 10% skill exp but will not give exp for leveling up. Consider it as a skill kumakocho card in i-chu!

Others: Generating a transfer code

First, go to the Menu (the tab on the far right on the lower menu). That will lead you to an area where a lot of options are made available to you. The Data Transfer is the button encircled.

The number on the left is your USER ID, so it’ll remain the same.

The number on the right is your TRANSFER CODE, which can be used more than once!

BE CAREFUL THOUGH! Once you generate a new code (the grey button on the left), your old codes will be rendered invalid, always make sure you have the latest code noted down somewhere.

Copy literally copies your transfer code into your clipboard so you can keep a memo of it on your phone.

Send via Mail also sends your User ID and Transfer Code to an email address of your preference!

Others: Generating a transfer code

An update that has been added to the game gives you a choice of backing up your game via twitter.

Simply press the button, enter your username and password, and authorise!

Clicking on the button again will get rid of the connection so make sure it stays blue!

Remember! The same old rule applies as to all the other mobile games out there. When you transfer from iOS to Android and vice versa, your daiyas won’t be transferred so make sure to check before transferring.

You’ve made it to the end!!!

We hope this guide helped you in getting started with A3!

The game is generally generous and is very fun to play without needing to pay (basically f2p friendly).

The lack of gameplay might make it seem boring at first but later it becomes very reliable bc then you can multitask especially while tiering in events!
