Sign In & Out

• Student – sign in & out at Main Office.

Bus Notes

• Students must have a bus note in order to travel on another bus
• Bus notes will only be issued before school, recess, and at lunch.
• Bus notes can be filled out and signed in the main office.
• Bus transfers are not always possible due to capacity.

Arrival Expectations

• Doors open at 9:10 a.m. (Classes begin at 9:30 a.m.)
• Go directly to your first class of the day.
• Alternatively, students may go to the learning commons, cafeteria, or the POD. Please do not gather in the front foyer.
• Classes dismiss at 3:31 p.m.

Lunch Expectations

• Go to Cafeteria, Learning Commons, or Outside
• Order every two weeks from nslunch.ca
• If you missed ordering online, please order before recess
• Students clean own space after use.
• The gym is open for students at lunch, no food or drink please.

NS Lunch Program

• All lunches must be pre ordered by using the provincial ordering site -please register through this link https://www.nslunch.ca/
• Orders are done 2 weeks ahead of time: Noon on Wed. Sept 2^nd for lunches until Sept. 18^th.
• Can sign up for text reminders
• High School students are encouraged to order through their own student portal at this site.

Student Washrooms

• Washrooms are single use only! This means only one person per washroom.
• Two main washroom banks: one upstairs one downstairs; if there is a line up, check the other level.
• Staff washrooms are off limits to students.
• Consequences will be assigned to people loitering in the washrooms or misusing them.

Vaping and Vandalism

• There is no vaping in the washrooms or any where else in or on school property.
• Vandalism anywhere on school property will not be tolerated.
• School consequences will be issued as per the provincial school code of conduct.

• Lockdown - Objective of a lockdown is to isolate students and staff in a secure location in response to a threat of violence within the building.
• Hold & Secure - Objective of a Hold & Secure is to maintain the safety of occupants by controlling who enters and leaves the building.

Attendance

• It is expected that all Park View students attend classes on a regular basis.
• All late students MUST report and enter through the main office to sign in.
• Student attendance has a direct impact on student success. See PVEC website for Attendance Policy.
• Students will not be permitted to roam hallways during instructional time.

Attendance

• Students present on school property will not be excused from classes if not in attendance.
• If students are out of class for more than 10 minutes it will be recorded as Left Early (LE), if this is recurring, students will be referred to the office.
• Students are expected to sign out in the main office if they are leaving during class time.

Course Change/Withdrawal

• Deadline to change courses is Friday, September 11, 2026.
• Grade 10s do not have free classes.
• Course change requests – Fill out the Google Form on the banner of the PVEC homepage to request a meeting. We will get to you ASAP. If you have a free and you leave, you might miss your place in line. We will call you again but it might not be the same day.
• Students are expected to stay in class until changes are made.

Free Periods

During a free period or break students are permitted to be in the following areas:

• Learning Commons
• Cafeteria
• The POD (115N)
• Outside (no loitering on Panther Way or in the parking areas)
• Outdoor classroom is available by sign up for classes and at lunchtime

Students are not permitted to loiter in the hallways, break-out spaces or Panther Way/Parking Lot, wooded areas or Outdoor Classroom during class time.

Panther Awards

• In grade 12, several students receive the prestigious Panther Award. In order to achieve this award, you must earn a significant number of points in three categories: Academics (Honour Roll), Athletics and Activities. At the end of each school year, you will receive a Certificate for your achievements. We want you to become involved in your school community by joining a club or a team! If you have any questions, ask your School Counsellor!

Outdoor Classroom

• Located at the back Northwest side of the school.
• No loitering during class time.
• Teachers will be signing out the Outdoor Classroom for instructional purposes.

Student Illness At School

• Students who become ill during the school day are to report to the Main Office immediately.
• Please note: There is no sick room at the school.

Student Parking

• First come, first serve in designated student parking areas (Panther Way, side and South front)
• Park at your own risk! PVEC is not responsible for damage to vehicles.
• No student parking in staff or visitor areas!
• Parking violators may be ticketed or towed!
• Vehicles may be searched.

May Be Monitored by Video Surveillance Cameras (CCTC)The personal information collected by the use of the CCTV at this site is under the authority of Freedom of Information Protection of Privacy Act. This information is used for the protection of students, staff and visitors and to prevent theft and property damage. Information collected may be provided to police to aid in criminal investigations.

Technology

• Students are to be responsible users of both personal and school technology at PVEC. “Digital citizenship means appropriate and responsible use of digital resources“ (Provincial School Network Access and Use Policy). 
• All electronic devices are to be used to support learning in the classroom AS DIRECTED BY THE TEACHER.
• PVEC is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal devices!
• There is a fee charged if you lose your school issued chromebook and/or charger.

• Grade 10 students will receive their Chromebooks on Friday, September 4th.
• New Grade 11 and 12 students can pick up chromebooks Monday, September 7th

• You need a “gnspes” email account for school use & communication purposes.
• Students, Parents/Guardians are encouraged to monitor student progress through the parent and student portal in PowerSchool.
• Please see student services to reset or access PowerSchool.
• The PowerSchool APP is not supported by the EECD.
