PreK 3: Arrival and Dismissal

PreK 3 – 9:00am - 3:00pm

Arrival

  1. Parents will park in the parking lot next to the playground and cross in the crosswalk, walk up the sidewalk, and enter through the main entrance.
  2. Once in the foyer, families will be met with staff and transition students into the gym or classroom.

Dismissal

  1. Parents will pick up their child in the main entrance foyer.
  2. As parents arrive, we will dismiss their children to them through the gym and into the main entrance foyer.

PreK 4: Arrival and Dismissal

PreK 4 – 9:15am - 2:50pm

Arrival

Bus riders will be dropped off in the loop where staff will meet the children and walk them into the building.

Parent Drop Off will follow the same procedure as the PreK 3 families

Dismissal

Bus riders will be walked onto the buses at the end of the day and transported back to the Wayland campus

Parent Pick Up will pick occur in the main entrance foyer. As parents arrive, we will dismiss their children to them through the hallway and into the main entrance foyer.

Breakfast and Lunch

PreK 3

Breakfast: 9:00am

Lunch: 11:30am

Parents are encouraged to pack a snack for the afternoon. If your child does not have a snack, one will be provided to them.

PreK 4

Breakfast: 9:30am

Lunch starts: 12:15pm

Parents are encouraged to pack a snack for the afternoon. If your child does not have a snack, one will be provided to them.

Breakfast and Lunch will be free for the 2026-2027 school year. However, families can pack their child a lunch if they would like to at any point in the year.

Attendance

  • Regular student attendance is critical to student learning

  • Students arriving 10 minutes AFTER their classroom start time will need to check in with the main office

  • If your child will be absent, needs to be picked up earlier, or will be late please contact the main office by 11am

Dress to Play

A good gauge for the weather will be:

  • Below 60 degrees - jacket or long sleeves
  • Below 50 degrees - coat and long pants
  • Below 40 degrees - coat, gloves and hat

Please provide for your child with following appropriate indoor and outdoor wear:

  • closed toed shoes with a rubber sole. Velcro sneakers are highly recommended
  • winter coat, boots, snow pants, hat and gloves (waterproof gloves are highly recommended)
  • extra socks and shoes in case they get wet

School Supplies

All instructional materials and school supplies will be provided to students by the school district. Students are responsible for bringing personal care items with your child’s name on each item:

  • extra change of clothes, including socks and underwear. We would recommend 2 - 3 sets of clothes in a Ziploc bag, to be kept in your child’s cubby.
  • Extra pair of sneakers
  • sunscreen (parent consent will be needed to apply sunscreen to your child during the day)
  • water bottle
  • blanket and/or stuffed animal for rest time

WCCS Home Liaison

Bridget Beardsley will serve as a link between home, school, and the community providing strength-based support services to families, including but not limited to:

  • family engagement opportunities throughout the school year
  • monthly family engagement opportunities are offered (e.g., crafts, parades, activities in the building)
  • child development activities
  • parent-centered education
  • education about adverse childhood experiences

Emergency Drills and Contact Information

  • Throughout the school year we will be practicing emergency safety drills (fire, lockdown, shelter in place, etc.)

  • Families will be notified via Thrillshare about school closures

  • Emergency Contact–please have up-to-date contact information (SchoolTool)

Health and Wellness

  • All pertinent medical information about students should be shared with our Nurse, Tina Goodwin
    • Immunizations
    • Medications
    • Physicals
  • Screenings–yearly vision and hearing screenings will be completed per the Department of Health regulations
  • We offer a dental cleaning clinic 1-2 times a year

Screening Day

  • In May/June we will call to set up a time for your child to complete his/her screening for PreK
  • Please plan about 1-1.5 hours for the screening
  • Your child and you will meet different teachers and related service providers for them to complete various activities
  • These activities provide us with knowledge about what skills that have, are working on, and have not yet developed as a PreK 3 and 4 year old student
