Illinois State Organization (ILSO) �Chapter President�Chapter Business

  • A chapter president carries a vote at each ILSO Executive Board meeting.
  • Chapter presidents who are unable to attend the State Executive Board meeting may appoint an official designee who shall have full privileges of participation. This member does not have to be a member of your chapter.
  • Remind all officers and committee chairs to throw out any unused ILSO blank forms from years past. Many ILSO forms are updated yearly.
  • Once the prospective member pays her dues, she is a member of DKG ILSO.
  • If she is inducted, but does not pay, she is not a member.
  • An Induction Ceremony is not always warranted. It is up to the chapter if they choose to hold an Induction Ceremony.

Procedures��

  • Each appointed ILSO committee shall be composed of one (1) ILSO member from each Area of Illinois.
  • The contact information for each committee is listed in the yearly ILSO Calendar Directory. As chapter president, you will receive a copy of the calendar at the September 16 & 17 Executive Board Meeting.
  • Each committee holds a minimum of two (2) Zoom meetings a year.
  • Every committee has a Budget Line Item number and description line for expenses.
  • Chapters shall be responsible for the work, at the chapter level with each of the committees. Bylaws Sec 3, A & B p 8 & 9.
  • Each committee chair has a vote at an ILSO Executive Board Meeting and special meetings.

  • Each elected chair has a committee composed of one (1) member from each Area of the state.

  • The committee requests speakers for 10 Minute Take-a-Ways, Poster Sessions and One Hour Presenters for the ILSO State Convention.
  • The purpose of the committee is to promote professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.

  • The committee recognizes Anniversary years of members celebrating 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 & 65 plus years as a member of DKG Society International.
  • The committee plans the Celebration of Life Ceremony.
  • The chair receives Form 6 upon the passing of an ILSO member.

  • The committee members include elected state officers, treasurer, executive assistant, editor, parliamentarian, historian, professional development coordinator, webmaster, past state presidents, state committee chairs and the chair of the Lambda State Foundations for Educational Studies, Inc.
  • Each state ambassador/mentor is responsible for completing the Chapter Rules Checklist and Report of the Chapter Visit for each chapter she visits.
  • Each ambassador/mentor is to support and assist the chapter in any way possible.
  • Should a chapter experience difficulties, the state president in consultation with the chapter may ask someone to serve as mentor, meeting with the chapter as needed and offering help and support.

  • Delta Kappa Gamma Illinois State Organization (ILSO) is a not for profit organization.
  • The chair of the finance committee is appointed by the president.
  • The finance committee shall consist of eight (8) members, two (2) of whom are appointed each year for a term of (4) years.
  • The committee shall be responsible for the supervision of the financial affairs of ILSO, including preparation of a budget for adoption by the Executive Board and an annual audit is conducted.
  • The ILSO president, the treasurer and the executive assistant shall serve as ex-officio members of the committee, each having a vote.
