Rebillot Meat Market

  • Rebillot Meat Market opened in 1876 and closed in 1962
  • Moved into this building in 1912
  • In 1916, Fire damaged the building which started on the second floor

Fun Fact

  • Captain Frank “Cap” Guittard was elected in 1892 as Marshall of the town of Louisville. He was 27 years old and served as Marshall until he retired in 1943 at the age of 78.
  • He never owned a horse or a car and was on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • “Cap” created the first curfew alarm by beating the metal canopy poles in front of Rebillot Meat Market with a short iron. The sound could be heard throughout the town.

Peer’s Dairy Store

  • Peer’s Dairy Store was originally located at the corner of Main and Mill street in 1938.
  • They installed an 18’ soda fountain in 1944 making it the place to go for teenagers.
