Downloading the OER

  1. Depending on how you think your course will be best served click on the link for the Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Sociology OpenStax Textbooks or Perspectives: An Open Invitation to Cultural Anthropology. These are text regularly used by Guttman faculty.
  2. Choose any section of any chapter, lecture slides or assignments from one of the textbooks above that you think could be useful in your course.
  3. Download the work or copy and paste the section of the chapter you chose into a program where you can alter the materials like Microsoft Word or PowerPoint.
  4. Answer the following questions.
    1. What are you altering and for what course?
    2. What did you like about this OER?
    3. How do you feel the OER could be improved for the Guttman course you will be teaching?

Altering Materials

Reflecting on your answers from discussion post 2.1, alter the OER you chose to work on in a way that you think will help you teach the material. This can be anything from updating examples to make them more relevant, breaking down the OER into more digestible segments, adding or changing hyperlinks, text or images to improve the students learning experience, or adding materials that you think will make the resource and course stronger.

Save the updated resource you altered in your preferred format (Word, PDF, PowerPoint, etc.) and upload it to the Blackboard site in the “Revised OER” assignment at the bottom of the Week 2 Module. The idea here is you will share the altered OER with us in the same format you would share it with your students.

Finally, write a paragraph explaining the changes you made and why.
