NEW LEGISLATION: ARTS REQUIREMENT

Legal requirement: all students must complete at least one arts education course between grades 6–12�

Course criteria:

• Must follow the NC Standard Course of Study (SCOS) for arts education
• Must be taken in its entirety
• Partial courses or after-school activities do not count

Middle school completion:

• Students who completed a semester or year-long arts course in middle school (e.g., band, chorus, full arts course) have met the requirement

​

High school completion:

• Students who did not complete an arts course in middle school must take an arts course in grades 9–12 to meet the requirement

COURSE SELECTION & REGISTRATION FORM

All rising 9th grade students will enter their course selections on the WECIB Google Form. The school will enter the courses into Infinite Campus.

WECIB ENGLISH

Course 1: English I Honors

WECIB WORLD LANGUAGE COURSE OPTIONS FOR FRESHMEN

Course 2: World Language (Elective

Note:

Students will take the next Spanish course in their sequence.

Most WECIB students will only have the opportunity to take levels I and II. These are the world language courses that are used for graduation credit and admission entrance to a 4 year college/university.

• Cisco 2: If earn Cisco Certified Service Technician Certification

FAQ: WTCC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Students can only take WTCC courses that are aligned with the program of study requirements.

​

Students must maintain the required GPA to take WTCC courses.

​

Students have the option of completing a 13^th year to earn an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.

​

The AAS degree would require:

• 5^th period coursework
• Summer school coursework
• 13^th year coursework

​

NEXT STEPS

1. Complete Google Form with course selection by Friday, March 13.
2. Courses will be entered into Infinite Campus by Counselors/Data Manager.
3. Schedules available late July.
