The international forum TECHNOWOMEN CENTRAL ASIA: AI FUTURE, which took place in Astana at the International Financial Centre, was an important event for discussing the practical application of artificial intelligence (AI) in business and society. The forum brought together several thousand participants, both offline and online, representing various fields of activity and expert communities.

This is the first broad discussion that brought together international and Kazakhstani experts from the IT industry, government officials, cybersecurity, higher education, NGOs, legal and cultural experts.

2. Implementation of initiatives at the National level

Speech by the Chairman of the Board of TechnoWomen at the meeting of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan with initiatives to expand economic opportunities for girls and women in the digital economy (14 October 2024):

  • Develop a new Women's Entrepreneurship 2.0 programme focusing on women's involvement in the digital economy, develop legal provisions under ILO Convention 175 for flexible hours for working mothers.
  • e-commerce training for female entrepreneurs. Establishment of digital competence centres for rural areas.
  • Review legislation to prevent and counteract labour discrimination based on age, children, marital status, and to take measures to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.
  • Increase the number of grants for girls in IT specialities (quota)
  • Launch free courses for girls to learn in-demand professions in the digital economy, programming, digital marketing, SMM and other skills. Promote accessible training courses on programming and digital skills for girls in the regions.

3. Social initiatives: IT-AIEL 2.0 – digital knowledge training for unemployed women and women on maternity leave (2024 – 4,500 participants)

In 2024, the number of applications submitted was 5,151, the largest number of participants were from the cities of Astana and Almaty, as well as Almaty and West Kazakhstan regions.

Social initiatives: Cyber Safe for WOMEN: cybersecurity for women and the prevention of digital violence�� The goal of the project is to raise women's awareness of digital security and create tools to protect against online threats on the Internet, such as cyberbullying, online harassment, phishing, online fraud and data leakage.

Cyber Safe for Women:

  • 240 trainers have been trained in Central Asia;
  • Coach of more than 2,800 women;
  • More than 140 people have completed online training in Kazakhstan on the basis of Kazpost JSC;
  • 3 online conferences were held
  • The best trainers received free grants to study at the Nazarbayev University School of Cyber Law and on the Lerna/Skillbox platform
