Flipped Lessons

a new way to learn math

Flipped Lesson Access

This year homework will be Flipped Lessons for math. Students will preview the lesson the night before via an online video and five questions to help gauge their understanding. The following day in class we will go over the lesson again, allowing more practice and chances for questions.

Students will benefit from hearing the material multiple times and being able to get their questions answered. Also, the video can be rewatched as many times as needed!

Spelling

Benchmark word study

• Students will receive their weekly spelling list on Mondays with the week’s homework activities.
• List consists of 8 words.
• Homework is to be completed nightly, Monday-Thursday
• Homework Packet turned in on Fridays
• Quizzes on Fridays

Homework

Absences

1. May be assigned Mon-Thurs
2. Students should not have HW on weekends unless it is part of a long term project, incomplete work, or from an absence.
3. Will be checked daily & is used as part of class participation.

• Students may make up any work missed when absent.
• Students are responsible for acquiring missing notes & assignments from Ms. Wilcox or a classmate.
• Students have the same number of days to complete the work as they were absent without it being late.

• 4 days, 3 nights in the Santa Cruz Mountains
• All of 5th grade will attend at the same time
• Scholarships are available; let Mrs. Melrose know ahead of time
• Permission slips will be sent home in the coming weeks.
• Cost- $375 check made payable to PUSD

• Students will have a job for the year
• Learn the value of money
• Earn a monthly wage
• Pay a monthly rent for desk; can save to buy their desk
• Earn bonuses for positive behavior, good grades, hard work, kindness, etc.
• Receive fines for disorganization, messiness, incomplete work

Forgotten Items

It is your student’s responsibility to come prepared to school every day. If they forget an item at home, you are welcome to drop it off in the office.

However, the office will not call and interrupt class. Your student can check at recess or lunch for their forgotten items.
