Community challenges include limited technology infrastructure, the lack of a skilled workforce, distinct community governance and emergency management, and the significant natural disasters caused by prominent extreme wind hazards in the study region.

Pilot Vision

  • Aim 1: Understanding societal, infrastructural, and environmental vulnerabilities and resilience of Midwest communities to wind hazards
  • Aim 2: Co-develop integrated resilience models against wind hazards, coupling meteorological precursors and community vulnerabilities
  • Aim 3: Develop a meteorological precursor detection and overall risk prediction framework for wind hazards driven by artificial intelligence
  • Aim 4: Develop and implement a web-based GIS platform integrating outcomes of Aim 1, 2, and 3
