2024-2025 Rising 7th Grade Registration Instructions
Step 1:
Open any browser and log into ClassLink
Step 2:
Click on NCEdCloud IAM icon
Step 3:
Click on “PowerSchool Student - LEA 491” Icon.
(Icon with the Capital P in different colors in black box).
Step 4:
You should now be inside Powerschool for Students. On the left side of screen, click “Class Registration.”
Step 5:
The next screen should look similar to this:
Step 6:
There are some classes that you are automatically scheduled into by the system. You will be automatically scheduled for Science, Social Studies and Health/PE. These classes do not have the paper/pencil edit icon next to them.
Step 7:
If you are AIG Math then you will be enrolled automatically in Honors Math. If you are AIG Reading then you will be enrolled automatically in Honors ELA.
If you are not identified as AIG Math then you may choose Math Grade 7 Honors by having your parent complete the Google Form. If you are not identified as AIG Reading then you may choose ELA Grade 7 Honors by having your parent complete the Google Form. Remember ELA Grade 7 Honors and Math Grade 7 Honors is a year long commitment.
Parents/Guardians were sent a Parent Square message Monday, April 17, 2023 about our open enrollment process for honors courses. Any student may select an honors course. Make sure you give your parent this paper copy of the information about open enrollment for honors courses for next year. Open enrollment will close on May 3, 2023.
Step 8:
Notice the red exclamation marks on the right side of the screen -- the red exclamation mark indicates that you need to click on the pencil edit icon and select a course for next year. Click on the pencil edit icon, select a course for next year, and then click “OK.” If you do not click “OK,” the course will not save.
Step 9:
Select 3 elective classes. Students will have a total of four elective class times throughout the year ( two are taken during the first semester and two are taken during the second semester). All 7th grade electives except Band are semester classes. Band is year long so it will be two of the four elective classes. Health/PE is a required elective so it will automatically take up one of the four elective classes.
Step 10:
Select 2 alternate elective courses. Alternate courses will only be used to replace elective courses if an elective course is full or is not available next year. These decisions are made when schedules are created over the summer.
Step 11:
Look over your elective choices and alternates. Do not request the same course twice for electives and elective alternates. If the elective class is full and the same class is chosen as an elective alternate, a randomly selected class will take its place.
Step 12:
Make sure you select electives and alternates that you are interested in taking. Do not sign up for an elective class because a friend has also signed up for the class. We encourage you to try new classes.
Step 13:
When all of the red exclamation marks become green check marks, please click “Submit” in order to finalize your courses for next school year. The window to register for classes will be from April 19, 2023 to May 3, 2023. PowerSchool maintenance is scheduled for April 21-23 and you will not be able to access PowerSchool over that weekend. It will reopen Monday, April 24, 2023.
Schedule Changes
We will NOT make schedule changes after schedules are printed at the beginning of the school year unless there is a scheduling error. Please choose your electives and alternates carefully.
