Step 1 - Family Interview

“Names are powerful because they reflect something about a child’s background.”

-Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow

Recently we read a number of stories celebrating why names are important, special, and have meaning. To help your child share their name story, below are a few questions to answer as a family.

If needed, a resource for finding the meaning of names is https://www.babynames.com/.

How did I get my name? Why did you pick it?

What does my name mean?

The template is ready for you to use and change as you wish. The pages are the size of a letter size paper. You can change that too. File > Page setup. Select “Custom” and change it to the size you prefer (Letter size is 8.5”x11”).

  • A full text page
  • Image/text and text /image pages

Step 3: Adding Images

Add images to your story, better if you made them yourself! You can take pictures of your artwork and add them to your book, you can take pictures of your toy actors or you can use images from internet (make sure you have permission to use them). There are many places to get free images from, for example Pixabay.com.
