Getting to know your library….

  • Fiction
    • Novels, fantasy, fake
    • Tall shelves against the wall
    • Arranged alphabetically by author’s last name
  • Nonfiction
    • True, informational, plus folk tales (300’s) and poetry and plays (800’s), and graphic novels (700’s)
    • Short shelves away from the walls
    • Arranged numerically by dewey decimal classification number, then alphabetically by author

Getting to know your library….

  • Reference
    • Generally not checked out of the library. “Refer” to the source to check or look up information
    • Front of the library then over to short shelves against the wall under the bulletin board
    • Arranged numerically then alphabetically (same as nonfiction)
  • Periodicals (magazines and newspapers published “periodically”)
    • Front of library
  • Laptops for checkout (ask your library staff)

Using the library with our OPAC--Destiny….

“Destiny” is the name of our Online Public Access Catalog.

  • Can utilize at home or school, or anywhere with internet access.
  • Can access from the GCHS website.

How to fully utilize Destiny….

  • View your library account
  • See new items (on Destiny Quest)
  • See popular items (on Destiny Quest)
  • Place holds on items
  • Make private lists of books you’d like to read, or items for projects, etc.
  • Search for materials in the library
  • Search for reference materials and articles from the “One Search” tab or “Destiny Discover”
  • Search for and check out e-books with “Destiny Discover”
