Attendance

It is very important to be at school everyday. High school attendance is counted each block of the day.

​

If you miss more than 13 days in a class, you may not be able to receive credit for that class.

Technology

• Please bring your computer everyday, charged.
• Bring your charger.
• Cost to replace chargers is $25, so make sure to keep it with you.
• You may borrow a computer in the media center before 7:15 AM.
• They are to be returned by 2:10 PM.

Behavior

• Student behavior is documented in Educator’s Handbook as Minor and Major Office Referrals.
• Major office referrals result in admin conference, lunch detention, after school detention, in-school suspension, or out of school suspension.
• If asked to leave class, report directly to the Reset Room with Coach Barrier.

CCS Phone Policy

• Devices should not be visible during instructional time - “bell to bell.”
• No cell phones should be taken to restroom.
• Consequence structure across the county.
• Students may have phones at arrival, dismissal, transitions, and lunch.
• NC House Bill 959 mandates that students cannot use, display, or have wireless communication devices turned on during instructional time.

Dress Code

• Pants must be worn at the waist and not reveal underwear or skin.
• Shorts, skirts, and dresses that are higher than mid-thigh must be worn with leggings.
• Undergarments must not be visible.
• Tops and dresses must have straps that are 1 inch or wider.
• Tops must cover the mid-section.

Dress Code

• Bandanas are not permitted to be worn or visible.
• Jewelry or accessories that may be used as a weapon are not permitted.
• Articles of clothing or accessories may not depict references to gangs, drugs, tobacco, alcohol, death, violence, profanity, vulgar/hate statements, illegal actions, or sexual images.

Academic Dishonesty

• Work submitted to a teacher is expected to be the original work of the student submitting it. Students who have been determined to be in violation of the academic integrity policy will receive an office referral, parent communication, and reduced credit of the assignment.
• AI-generated content that is submitted as if it were the original work of the student is a violation of this policy. Each department has developed guidelines regarding AI use and submissions.
• Repeated acts of academic dishonesty will result in further disciplinary action.

Athletics Eligibility

• Rising 9th grade students are automatically eligible for the Fall 2026 season.
• To remain eligible, students must ...
• Pass 3 out of 4 classes each semester.
• Not exceed 13 absences.
• OSS will count as unexcused absenses.

Student Drivers

• You will be eligible for Driver’s Education at 14 ½ years old if ...
• pass 3 of 4 classes each semester.
• do not possess controlled substances or alcohol on campus.
• do not physically assault someone on campus.

E-Hall Pass

• When leaving the class, please fill out an E-Hall pass and have it approved before leaving. This includes restroom and media center. Make sure to end the pass when you return.
• Appointment passes may be made by administration and student services.
• Be mindful of the time you are out of class. If you are out of class for an extended period of time or out assigned area, this is considered skipping, and you will receive a major offie refferal.

Reconnect

• Most weeks you will go to Reconnect for all of your classes and homeroom.
• This time is dedicated to remediation and extension activities related to the course objectives.
• Students may attend clubs during this time if passing the class.
• E-hall Passes must be made for each student to attend clubs.
• Please do not use this time to visit other classes.

Academics

• Students are required to pass a certain number of course to move to the next grade level.
• Sophomore - 6 credits
• Junior - 13 credits
• Senior - 19 credits
• The current graduation requirement is 27 credits.
• Speak with your counselor about taking extra classes and credit recovery options.

Lunches

• Please complete a F/RL application. No charging is permitted in the cafteria.
• During your lunch time, report directly to the cafeteria.
• No outside food is allowed to be delivered to the school. If food is delivered during the instructional day it will be disposed.
• No leaving school during lunch (or anytime during the school day). Upon return, you will be subject to a search and disciplinary consequences due to being out of authorized area.

Buses

• Bus information will be available on the Edulog app during the week of open house, if you requested transportation. Directions can be found on the website under the Parents tab.
• Be out at your bus stop 10 minutes before your stop time.
• Sign up for Parent and Student Square to receive messages about late buses.
• Buses will be on the same spot each day on the bus lot. Listen to announcements for late buses or bus changes. If you have a sub bus, it will still park in the same spot.
• You may only ride the bus that you are assigned.

Car Riders

• Parents can begin drop off at 6:45 AM.
• Please do not stop in the middle of the line. Be sure to drive up to the end of the sidewalk.
• Drop offs (or pick up, including Uber/Lifts) are not allowed in the student parking lot or in the front of the school.

Communication

• Parents need to sign up for Parent Square and and students will need to sign up for Student Square.
• This is the allowed app for communication in CCS.
• Other allowed forms of communication are Email and Canvas.
