Who We Are

InBIA is a global network of entrepreneurship support organizations (ESOs). Founded in 1985, InBIA is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) with a global network of 1,000+ members and 400+ organizations in 30+countries.

Who We Serve

InBIA’s members are ESO practitioners,ecosystem builders and thought leaders in entrepreneurship ecosystems across the globe. They include leaders of incubators, accelerators, coworking spaces, university commercialization centers, government/economic development organizations, and other types of organizations that exist to support entrepreneurs.

Why We Serve

Entrepreneurship has a huge impact on the global economy as small businesses drive job creation in every region of the world. InBIA’s mission is “to empower ESOs by creating impactful community through comprehensive resources, training and thought leadership.”

How We Serve

InBIA fosters collaboration on a global scale between entrepreneurship ecosystem leaders through conferences, summits and online communities. We provide globally recognized thought leadership, research, education and accreditation based on best practices for building sustainable entrepreneurship centers and regional ecosystems. Most importantly, InBIA facilitates authentic connections, mentorship and peer-to-peer collaboration to enable members to sustainably serve entrepreneurs in communities around the world.

Designed for seasoned entrepreneur support professionals looking to take a deep dive on how to lead well through the opportunities and challenges facing the industry, this is an event to forge partnerships for research and development and engage in discussion to advance theory, policy and strategy for the practice.

International Conference for Business Incubation, April 14-17, 2024 – San Antonio, TX

Our marquee event of the year, ICBI attracts participants from around the globe. For nearly four decades, ICBI has been bringing together the people who champion entrepreneurship around the globe to form connections, share ideas, gather resources and reinvigorate professional perspectives.

e.Builders Forum, October 22-24, 2024 - Kansas City, MO

InBIA’s e.Builders Forum features regional entrepreneurship ecosystems that are thriving, often in the midst of circumstances that make access to resources difficult. This event highlights successful strategies and creates space for ecosystem builders and entrepreneur support professionals to discuss how to improve their own programs and support their organization’s entrepreneurial missions. This year InBIA is collaborating with other innovation-focused organizations, SourceLink, Third Eye Network, and KC SourceLink.

Lindsay Schuenke, Director of Content

Since 2004, Lindsay has focused on coordinating content and details for events, including the annual conference, e.Builders Forum and the advanced summit. She was involved in the inception and launch of the Entrepreneurship Center Management Certificate Program and has helped plan more than 15 annual conferences as well as dozens of smaller events. Over the years, Lindsay has managed hundreds of speakers, written thousands of session and course descriptions, managed dozens of tours, and been involved with countless other aspects of planning and executing the conferences and other events.

Charles Ross, President and CEO

Over the past 17 years, Charles has worked with communities of various shapes and sizes to build and sustain vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystems. Charles joined InBIA as a member in 2006, was elected to its Board of Directors in 2011 and served as Chair in 2017. In 2018, Charles joined the staff as Interim President and CEO and President and became President and CEO in 2021. Before joining the InBIA management team, Charles was responsible for driving economic impact for local communities through senior leadership positions at Kennesaw State University and the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Steve DeBretto, Chair of the Board of Directors

Steve serves as Chair of the InBIA Board of Directors and the executive director of the Industrial Council of Nearwest Chicago, an economic development organization that sponsors Make City (formerly the Fulton-Carroll Center Business Incubator), a light industrial mixed-use incubator, and The Hatchery, a food and beverage manufacturing center; ICNC also houses two SBDCs in its facilities. Steve has been an InBIA member since 2012.
