The Personas Are…

High Level

Unbiased

Evolving

These personas represent the 4 high level user groups at LAZ.

Each group contains numerous subgroups that we hope to represent with personas in the future.

A neutral name & illustration is used for each to help avoid unintentional reinforcement of bias about demographics of our users that don’t affect their product use.

These personas capture challenges, goals, and product use at this point in time.

Over time, shifts in education, our user base, and our products will occur, resulting in a need to update these personas.

Administrator Avery

Our first high level persona is the organization administrator, Administrator Avery.

Demographics

Instead of the demographics found in typical personas, we included demographics about the user’s role in their organization, what types of users they manage in our product, and how they use their LAZ product(s). For Administrator Avery,

Essentials & Wish List

Each persona includes the same “Essentials” as these are considered necessary for all users.

The Wish List shows a ranking of the importance of some characteristics that users would like to have in our product. For Administrator Avery, the top item on that wishlist is alignment with core curriculum, followed by budget friendly & research based curriculum and finally simplicity in rostering.

Goals & Challenges

The users’ goals & challenges section supplies us with information about motivations. Administrator Avery reports their greatest challenges as providing quality curriculum, monitoring academic progress, and providing quality professional development. These tie in to current goals, which include helping their teachers reach students at all levels, motivating students, supplying quality assessments, and reviewing how their students & teachers use products like LAZ.

Key Data Points

In UX, we highly value data, and wanted to make sure that the data we used to develop these personas was accessible to anyone diving deeper. I have included links to our survey results and internal analytics data on each persona. Additionally, I chose a few key points that are important to understand each persona. Caregiver Casey’s wishlist includes caregiver resources, mobile friendly interface, and the ability to view current work.

Goals & Challenges

Caregiver Casey’s greatest challenges are a lack of information about how to connect to their student’s account, time constraints, and a lack of resources to help their child. Caregiver Casey’s goals are to find out how their child is performing academically, use resources from school to support their child’s learning at home, and view current assignments & due dates.
