About Mrs. Babovic

I started as the Library Media Tech at Woodland in the fall of 2020. I’ve worked in international refugee aid, academics, and I’m Mom of 3 amazing NMUSD students.

I’m so happy to be at Woodland!

Storytime then . . .

Storytime now continues virtually!

Circulation then . . .

Before the pandemic, students came to the library weekly as a class to hear a story, browse the shelves, and check out a book. They could also relax in the castle and/or read to a stuffed animal buddy.

Circulation now . . . TK/K and 1st grade

While our Dragons cannot be in the library, our collection is made available to them via contact-free “curbside” checkout, similar to the public library!

TK/K and 1st grade use “book menus” to select 2 books every other week. When teachers provide AR levels, I match those as well as students’ interests.

Circulation now . . . 2nd grade

2nd grade students can access our library’s catalog online by logging into Destiny Discover using their usual district username and password. 2nd grade teachers have shared an instructional video with their students and families.

Each 2nd grader can place up to 2 holds and have up to 2 books checked out at a time.

Delivery!

TK/K library books are delivered to classrooms.

Holds filled for 2nd graders are picked up outside the library.

Keeping circulation safe

Returned library books are held in “quarantine carts” for 7-10 days before being returned to the shelves or checked out again.

A couple of useful resources

https://www.arbookfind.com/ Lets students and parents search for a specific book fto find out its AR level; also has searchable reading lists.

Parent toolkit from the National Education Association -- full of information on raising readers.

Thanks for touring our library! I’m always happy to help with any library-related questions. Please feel free to email me at sbabovic@nmusd.us
