Physical education

The Bellflower Middle/High School physical education department strives to provide courses that enhance the development of each student’s physical, mental, and social well-being. Students are exposed to a variety of activities in which they learn the importance and relevance of fitness on a weekly basis.

The Bellflower Middle/High School physical education program is committed to ensure that each student receives weekly training that improves flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and body composition.

Graduation and this Course

What requirements does the course meet?

This class is a requirement for high school graduation. Students must complete 2 years of physical education in high school with a grade D or higher. Middle school students must complete physical education during both 7th and 8th grade with a D or higher.

Accessing the Instructional Materials

What online materials are you using?

All PE teachers will have a Google Classroom for students to access materials if absent for an extended period.

How do you access them?

Via your childs Google Classroom Account. Your child should have received an invitation to their physical education Google Classroom.

Student Work and Time of Engagement

  • Please make sure your student is prepared with their P.E. uniform and tennis shoes on the days they have P.E.

  • Students can use P.R.I.D.E. Time to make up assignments and absences. If students misses a day, forgets their PE clothes, or has an injury/illness, PRIDE Time can be used to make up those points. If student cannot make it during PRIDE Time, and alternate assignment can be given.

  • Students must be on time to class. The school tardy policy will be enforced.
  • Each student must check out a locker to keep their belongings in.
  • Students are expected to dress out daily for class.
  • Students must have a physician’s note to be excused for 3 or more days.
  • Students must make-up absences. Make-up work is available from your teacher.
  • Show BUC PRIDE!!!!

Required Uniform:

  1. Plain white t-shirt and maroon shorts or any apparel that has a BMHS logo.
  2. Gray or maroon sweatpants.
  3. Tennis shoes and socks.
  4. Each student must have a combination lock for their locker. NO KEY LOCKS!

Grading Policy

  • Your student will be graded on PARTICIPATION in P.E. daily.
  • If a student is absent, they must speak with their teacher to get

information about getting make-up work via Google Classroom or P.R.I.D.E

time.

  • For failing grades and non-suits, students may attend PRIDE Time to help make up points.

90% and above: A

80% to 89%: B

70% to 79%: C

60% to 69%: D

59% and below: F
