  • We love to travel, and try to spend as much time as possible having fun in the mountains.

General Expectations

  • Be in locker room before second bell
  • Be suited in appropriate PE gear within 5 minutes of second bell
  • Meet in assigned roll taking area on time (TARDY)
  • Ask for permission to leave the instructional area
  • Cooperate with all instructors

Safety Standards

  • Observe safety and health rules
  • Use equipment appropriately
  • Be aware of space/ others

  • Wear appropriate fitness attire (footwear etc.)
  • Avoid loose fitting clothing/ jewelry

Locks and Lockers

  • A lock will be issued to each student
    • Locks be returned at the end of the trimester
      • Lost locks will result in an $8 fine
  • Memorize your combination
  • Do not share your combination with anyone
  • Use assigned locker for overnight clothing storage
  • Tall lockers are used during class time only

HHS is not responsible for lost or stolen items

Locker Room Protocol

  • Students must remain in the locker room until dismissed
  • No food/beverage allowed
  • Leave backpacks and secure all belongings
  • NO PHOTO OR VIDEO IN LOCKER ROOMS

Electronic Devices

Do not bring electronic devices to the class unless directed by your teacher

School Policy - “No cell, bell to bell”.

    • This includes:
      • Cell phones, tablets, personal gaming devices, headphones etc.
      • School issued Chromebooks are subject to these policies

Points will be deducted for use of devices during class time/ Discipline referrals may be issued

Attire

Fitness attire is required to participate in PE activity

The following must be worn:

    • T-shirt, hoodie, athletic wear top
    • Shorts, sweatpants, or yoga pants made of athletic material
    • Closed-toed athletic shoes
    • Skin coverage in weight room, on yoga mats, and on turf

Accommodations to uniform policy will be made for documented educational, religious, or medical situations

General Grading Info

Grading is based on daily performance:

    • Active participation
    • Conduct (safety, attitude, sportsmanship, engagement, electronics)
    • Preparedness
        • Suited in fitness attire
        • Electronics and backpacks stored away in locker room

Written assignments / Skill Performance

      • Tests/quizzes/projects
          • Canvas curriculum
          • Technique assessments
          • Fitness Testing
      • Any LATE work MUST be submitted within 2 weeks of the due date.

These assignments align with WA state PE learning standards

Participation Grading

Participation will makeup majority of your PE grade and cannot be made up

To receive credit:

    • Be actively involved in all class activities including:
        • Warm-ups
        • Fitness testing
        • Competitive/skill development activities
    • Demonstrate appropriate conduct and sportsmanship
    • Be actively engaged, refraining from use of electronics

Non-Suit Grading

Suit up points will factor into the daily grade

    • Modified participation may be allowed on non-suit days if approved by instructor
    • Non-suits points cannot be made up
      • Non-suits related to excused tardies may be excused via teacher/counselor/administrator’s note

Attendance

  • Attendance has a direct impact on daily grade
  • Students cannot earn points if they are not in attendance
    • Tardies and absences are counted in daily/weekly grades because they limit student ability to participate

Weekly Grade:

Criteria

Max 15 points a week Students daily can EARN 3 points a day for meeting the following expectations

Appropriate Clothing

Student must wear athletic clothing that they can move in. Clothes that will lose your daily point include... jeans, pajamas, skirts/dresses, crocs, slides, slippers, flip flops, boots etc.

Participation

Student participates in all activities without reminders to be on task. This includes the warm up, primary activity, and cool down. �Student participates in a way that helps maintain a safe and productive class environment.

Social Responsibility

Student can earn a point for positive behavior each day in class, a student who earns this point demonstrates... �-Being a positive and active member of our learning environment by asking questions and helping their peers �-Student asks questions and supports their peers. Student is open to trying new things, they do not give up when approached with a challenge. �-Student participates in all activities with the best of their ability. Student is attentive during instruction facing the speaker. Student takes care of all PE equipment and does not use it without permission. �-Student takes initiative in asking questions, demonstrating, getting out of their comfort zone. Student is honest even when no one is watching and follows the rules. �-Student treats everyone in the class with respect and kindness. Student uses school appropriate language at all times. During games, student demonstrates good sportsmanship and has a positive attitude. Student listens to others and is mindful of their impact on them.

Absences

  • Only excused absences may be made up
    • Students must notify teacher before scheduled absences to arrange for an alternative assignment
    • Make-up work or points adjustment can be provided within 2 weeks of return from excused absence

Alternate work or schedule modification may be made in instances of extended medical restrictions

  • Unexcused absences may NOT be made up and will result in loss of daily points

Injuries and Illnesses

“Limited Participant” or Out for 1-2 days:

  • Parent note
  • Visit to school nurse
  • Note or attendance office required for make-up or point adjustment

Out for more than 2 days:

  • Return to participation requires clearance from healthcare provider Parent note will not excuse
  • Visit to school nurse
  • Note required for make-up

“No Participation” vs. Limited Participation:

  • NO PARTICIPATION: you cannot participate.
  • LIMITED PARTICIPATION: activity may be done with restrictions
  • Specific participation guidelines must be detailed in writing from healthcare provider
  • Parent notes cannot override legal documentation

Illnesses:

  • Illness or injury may be excused with note from parent/guardian/physician [note from medical professional required after two day absence]
  • If you become sick or injured during school you will be sent to the nurse.
  • Students with non-emergent injury or illness will be asked to sit-out and monitor symptoms
  • If symptoms persist, student will be referred to school nurse
  • If you report illness or injury to teacher you must follow guidelines of written documentation (See following slide)

Medical Excuses

  • Extended medical releases from a physician will be dealt on a case-by-case basis
    • Inform your teacher of the situation, and present documentation
    • Alternative credit solutions may be discussed in situations of extended absence or limitation
