Formal definition of “Learning Engineering”

IEEE ICICLE was formed in 2017. �The Competencies, Curriculum, and Credentials special interest group developed the definition in 2018. The definition was formally adopted at the 1st ICICLE conference in 2019.

Learning Engineering” coined

The term "learning engineering" was coined by Herbert Simon, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University who won the Nobel Prize for economics and believed that a new kind of professionalism and science-based approach should be applied to learning.
