Semester 2

Learning Intentions

In this subject, the basic concepts of descriptive statistics are studied in the first two months, such as population, sample, frequency distributions and their graphs, measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion, presenting an overview of the most elementary and classic methods. statistics For the second bimester, the concepts and properties of the theory of probability and the counting technique are studied. For the third and fourth bimester, everything related to probability distributions for both discrete and continuous variables will be worked on. All these applications are supported by the frequent use of Google Doc, Google Sheets and Google Forms software, so that you have a basic level of proficiency with it.

Course Description

Course Syllabus

Semester 1

Learning Intentions

  1. Understand how to summarize, represent, and interpret categorical and quantitative data on a single count or measurement variable.
  2. Apply and solve real life problems, using cumulative frequency graph and calculating the mean and standard deviation of set of data.
  3. Solve problems in different contexts related to the counting of objects using the different rules that provide permutations and combinations.

Grade

12°

  • Evaluate and calculate probabilities using the different rules and properties that relate these (e.g. general rule of addition, conditional probability, bayes' Theorem) according to the context of the problem.
  • Draw, use and apply the different probability distributions of discrete random variables, such as, the binomial and geometric distribution to solve problems that occur in real life.
  • Understand, analyze and apply the normal distribution to model and obtain probability in different real life contexts.
