Title I - What is it?

  • Title I funds help educators improve teaching and learning for thousands of New York State students in economically disadvantaged communities.

  • Each district and school receiving Title I funding is expected to make yearly progress towards state sets academic standards.

  • If your child has a Math Lab or ELA lab, or participates in after-school tutoring, they are benefitting from Title I funding.

Parent involvement

  • Because parents are so important for children’s success, Title 1 schools and district must have a plan to involve parents in becoming partners in their children’s education.

  • This plan is known as a Parent Involvement Policy. It is required at both the district and school level.

  • A cooperative agreement: the School-Parent Compact - a document that encourages the school and parent to work cooperatively to provide a successful education for children.

  • We encourage & welcome parent involvement!

  • Parent and family engagement includes:
    • Parent notification of AIS Services – Fall 2024
    • AIS Progress Reports (4 times per year)
    • Parent Conferences (at least 2 times per year)
    • Phone Calls and other means of outreach to parents.

Parent Conferences

Parent conferences are offered to all students in AIS classes - ELA and Math labs - twice per year. Letters regarding these AIS conferences are sent out in October.
