About the practicum
What support the interns need from the placement?

The procedure of EAT therapeutic support to students
Intake
Client referred by teachers
- Talk with and note information from teachers
First meeting with clients:
- Introduce about EAT process
- Intake form, consent form
- Assessment
Client weekly join therapy session (1:1 or Group)
- Based on assessment and discussion with clients to decide 1:1 or group therapy (1:1 is preferred)
- discussing sessions with parents/ caretakers and teachers may happen based on the therapeutic need for the clients.
Therapy sessions
Based on regular evaluation with clients to decide on closure time
- Therapy can end earlier based on needs and decision of the clients and their guardians/parents.
- Post-therapy plan with clients and with caretakers/teachers to continue necessary practice for clients.
Closure
Update from teachers/care takers about Client’s situation
Support additional therapeutic activities if necessary
- If clients need some daily practice to support behavior changes, collaborate with teachers or parents to support indirectively;
Follow-up
An EAT session process (45 - 60 minutes)
Debrief of the session with client’s reflection
Discuss any homework activities that benefits client
Get client’s feedback
Schedule for the next session
CLOSE SESSION
Facilitate client in arts activity based on session plan
Clients can express visibly their feelings/ unconscious through the arts making process.
Psychoeducation can be combined.
ARTS ACTIVITY
New client:
- Intro about EAT, roles, principles in working;
- Discuss about what client’s need or reason of coming therapy
Returning client:
- Update/check-in the previous week
- Discuss about issues + goals
START SESSION
New clients:
- Read notes/ information from referrer
- prepare forms
Returning client:
- read previous note
- prepare for the session
PRE-SESSION
* In communication with clients, languages will be adjusted to be children friendly and suitable.
PROCESS ART WORK
Discuss and support client in reflecting on the process (not just about the result)
Support client to relate, connect, understand their experience with arts and their issues
