1 Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”

1 耶稣进了耶利哥，正经过的时候， 2 有一个人名叫撒该，做税吏长，是个财主， 3 他要看看耶稣是怎样的人。只因人多，他的身量又矮，所以不得看见。 4 就跑到前头，爬上桑树，要看耶稣，因为耶稣必从那里经过。 5 耶稣到了那里，抬头一看，对他说：“撒该，快下来！今天我必住在你家里。”

6 So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. 7 But when they saw it, they all complained, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.”

6 他就急忙下来，欢欢喜喜地接待耶稣。 7 众人看见，都私下议论说：“他竟到罪人家里去住宿！”

2. Jesus came to bring healing to the spiritually ill.

Sometimes we can convince ourselves that we are ok on our own, we don’t need help because we have everything we need.

Self righteous, is the worst kind of heart to have.

Christian & Self-righteous: I believe there can be Christians whose hearts are self righteous, and we forget about the fact that we still need JESUS, just as we needed HIM when He drew us near. You need to remember humility and Christs heart for the lost.

Lost & Self-righteous: I believe “lost people” truly believe they are doing ok. They got job, they are kind and try to do good. They try to love people around them, but their broken and think they don’t need help or healing. Some of these people may even be religious. Some of these people may even come to church. Some don’t want to step foot in church.

Luke 5:29-32

29 Then Levi gave Him a great feast in his own house. And there were a great number of tax collectors and others who sat down with them. 30 And their scribes and the Pharisees complained against His disciples, saying, “Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

31 Jesus answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

路加福音 5:29-32

29 利未在自己家里为耶稣大摆筵席，有许多税吏和别人与他们一同坐席。 30 法利赛人和文士就向耶稣的门徒发怨言说：“你们为什么和税吏并罪人一同吃喝呢？” 31 耶稣对他们说：“无病的人用不着医生，有病的人才用得着。 32 我来本不是召义人悔改，乃是召罪人悔改。”

We can be so lost that we think we are ok, but Jesus sees right through us. He knows what we need.

Another aspect of this situation that I hope as believers we can see the people around us with compassion. Even if they do not fit the mold of what we think is right and good, maybe we need to see people the way Jesus sees them.

Jesus spotted Zacchaeus up in a tree and spoke straight to him.

The people complained how could Jesus be with a sinner like him…

We need to love the people around us with the Gospel, because He is what transforms the heart.

8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.”

8 撒该站着对主说：“主啊，我把所有的一半给穷人，我若讹诈了谁，就还他四倍。”

9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

9 耶稣说：“今天救恩到了这家，因为他也是亚伯拉罕的子孙。 10 人子来，为要寻找、拯救失丧的人。”
