Attendance

Attendance/Make-up:

If you are absent (excused or unexcused), falling behind, or need more time to work, you may make arrangements with the teacher during lunch, before or after school to complete work and earn studio time. Students must make-up missed assignments and studio time within two school days of missed day within each hexter.

In accordance to LPS School Board Policy:Excused or unexcused absence — Credit for work missed during excused or unexcused absences shall be given when the required work has been satisfactorily completed. Make-up work following an unexcused absence shall be allowed with the goal of providing the student with an opportunity to keep up with the class and an incentive to attend school. KERNING

Kerning is the spacing between specific pairs of characters.

Kerning is the spacing between individual letters or characters. Unlike tracking, which adjusts the amount of space between the letters of an entire word in equal increments, kerning is focused on how type looks — creating readable text that's visually pleasing.

18 of 23

TRACKING

Tracking is used to change the spacing between ALL characters in a block of text.

19 of 23

LEADING

If kerning and tracking are typography basics to adjust the distance between letters horizontally, then leading is a technique with a function to adjust letters or words vertically.

Leading is the distance between each line of text.

So As a class we need to make some decisions...

  1. What is the THEME of the Yearbook?
  2. What specific font do we want to use? Do we want to use a combination of fonts to create a typeface that matches our theme?
  3. How will we incorporate our theme throughout the entire yearbook? (visual & written)
  4. How can we utilize Ad’s in the yearbook to earn money for more color pages?
  5. How can we create innovative layout designs?
  6. What would make this class exciting?!

Theme Ideas

  • Brainstorm three theme ideas to share with your classmates.
    1. Think of ideas that relate to THIS year at OPTIONS high school.
    2. Put your three theme ideas in your notes document and label them “Three Theme Ideas.”
    3. Use the class brainstorm list and pick your TOP 3 themes and brainstorm how you would carry each theme through the entire YB.
