Patient Greeting Volunteering
1
What will the volunteering be?
What does this look like?
We will be volunteering as Patient Greeters or Escorts
Patient Greeters/Escorts welcome patients, their companions, and other visitors into and out of Planned Parenthood health centers. Greeters/Escorts serve as a calm presence during protester activity, acting as a barrier between patients and protestors. Weekday & daytime availability required.
2
Where will we go?
Who is in charge?
Planned Parenthood - Chapel Hill Health Center
Address: 1765 Dobbins Dr, Chapel Hill, NC 27514
~10 minute drive from campus
Kelty is in charge of the patient greeter team at this location. Her email is kelty.kauffman@ppsat.org
Khamaria is the youth organizer for North Carolina Her email is khamaria.long@ppsat.org
3
How do we sign up?
Apply for a position at this link. You’ll receive a confirmation email when you submit.
Then, Kelty Kauffman or another PPSAT staff will email you to schedule a screening phone call. This is a brief, easy call intended to ensure volunteers align with Planned Parenthood’s values.
The final step is signing up for a 2-hour orientation/training. (We’re hoping to organize one as a group.)
4
Can we do this together?
Yes! We will be working at the health center in groups. If enough people sign up, we can even do an orientation training all together after being screened.
5
Health Center Hours
Thursdays and Fridays are the best times! That’s when shifts will most likely be available for us!
