Who are Right to Remain?

• Since 1995
• Registered charity, working across the UK
• Anchor organisation for the migration justice movement

How we do it:

• Building knowledge - public legal education
• Building radical solidarity - strategic convening
• Building power - lived-experience led campaigning & organising

But we do not give legal advice.

Solidarity is standing with and supporting people who may be nothing like you, but who share a common aim: justice.

“You are not alone. I am with you.”

Radical solidarity goes deeper. �It is not only helping one person today. �It’s also:

“Why is this happening, and how can we change it together?”

Current context

• We are tired and fearful.
• We are seeing challenges now and expect more challenges in the future.
• Local elections, changes in rules, General Election, attacks…

​

• More division?
• More confusion?
• More enforcement?
• More material hardship?

​

BUT… (tbc!)

We will work and rehearse together to meet the moment before the next crisis hits us.

​

• Share our learnings from Free Fatou Campaign and explain how shared and democratised knowledge of the system builds power and safety.
• Understand together what has been happening in the world of the asylum and immigration system and what might lie ahead of us.
• Hear from our communities about the impact of anti-migrant narratives and the far right activities on their everyday lives and how we are fighting back.
• Battle of ideas - we will brainstorm to explore best ways to build solidarity and power amidst the far right attacks together via Right to Remain?
• We will make connections and friends. We will step up in solidarity building. Today, we are building the migration justice movement, together.

We can win! And we must win.

Solidarity is a verb.

• More people and groups use the Toolkit and legal resources together to build knowledge and provide relief.
• More people and groups come together across differences to build radical solidarity to address what’s happening now and prepare for our future.
• More people and groups strategise, fight and win to build power by centering the lived experience voices and leadership.

We all have a role

We dream of a world where everyone has the right to remain where they want to be – not because they are “deserving”, not because they are “hard working”, not because they are made “vulnerable”, not because they are “exceptional”, but because they love, they live and they are human.

Actually, we are not dreaming – we are building that world today, right now, by being here.

Migration is life. No one is illegal. These walls must fall.
