Story Writing Step 4:

Fill in the details of your story

  • Describe the characters using adjectives.
    • Jim was very crooked and none liked him
    • The Saint was a symbol of peace.
    • Maid hard working like an ox.

  • Name the characters
    • Jim
    • A Saint
    • A Maid

Story Writing Step 5:

Include one major incident in your story.

  • Introduce the problem
  • Describe the incident
  • Give a solution to the problem.

NOTE:

The problem must be solved by the main character.

Story Writing Step 6:

Plan your dialogues

Dialogues : ‘Dos’ and ‘Don’ts

  • Avoid too long or too short dialogues.
  • Use action words to describe the incident or problem
  • Do not use the word, ‘said’.
  • Instead use ‘exclaimed’, ‘ordered’ etc.

e.g. The little girl exclaimed, “Oh dear, what shall I do now?”

Write the first draft of your story keeping

in mind all the above six steps.

Checklist :

  • Look at your plan again and make sure that you

have included everything in your story.

  • Make sure your story reads well.
  • Correct your spelling and grammar.
