AN INTRO

Education is pretty thin unless it’s mixed with experiences.

Many of our business classes connect classroom learning to experiences where students are applying their learning to actual work, scenarios, and situations that leverage our professional business community.

FAQ’s

  1. Personal finance is a graduation requirement that must be taken as a junior or senior.

  • What is CLEP Credit (Marketing & Business Management Courses)?

CLEP exams help students earn college credit for what they already know, for a fraction of the cost of a college course. Works the same as Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

*Check minimum scores and to see if your future college/university accepts it (click here)

  • Who can join DECA and when does it start?

Anyone can be in DECA. Students are encouraged to take Marketing (CLEP) and Entrepreneurship, and AP Business courses to build a strong foundation. Those classes also provide time to start DECA projects that can be used to compete in DECA.

DECA start in the FALL (September) and meeting schedules can be accessed on our Canvas pages.

  • Should I take AP Business and what’s it about? (Video) See next slide for Overview.

The course is a mix of learning about key business concepts and then applying it to a start-up business of their choice. For example, I learn about financial statements then I develop them for my startup business. I learn marketing concepts, then I apply them to my startup business.

AP Business Overview

  1. The course stresses not only learning the key business principles, but also mixes these with experiences such as developing a business plan, developing a marketing plan for it, and bringing in key business connections along the way to help bring the concepts to life.
  2. Also, getting involved with DECA and Investment clubs are also encouraged as they allow students to take their learning beyond the classroom.
